About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Android Video Player Engineer to join our agile team remotely. This role is ideal for professionals with a deep understanding of live video streaming technologies and a passion for delivering seamless playback experiences across Android and Android TV platforms. As a key member of our streaming ecosystem, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing video player frameworks and SDKs, ensuring high reliability and performance in live streaming environments.

The successful candidate will own end-to-end playback quality, troubleshoot complex issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance user experience. Your expertise will directly impact the quality and reliability of streaming services used by millions worldwide.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess over 7 years of Android development experience, with a strong focus on video playback and live streaming. Proficiency in Kotlin and Java is essential,



along with extensive hands-on experience working with ExoPlayer, including customization and performance tuning for live streaming scenarios. You should have a solid understanding of streaming protocols such as DASH and HLS, adaptive bitrate logic, and ad integration technologies like IMA, SSAI, and DAI.

Experience in diagnosing and optimizing playback performance using QoE metrics and analytics tools such as Conviva, Mux, or Hydrolix is highly desirable. Strong communication skills in English and the ability to work independently in a remote environment are also required. Familiarity with Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines, and Flows will be considered a plus.

Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and optimize Android video player frameworks and SDKs tailored for live streaming applications.
- Customize and extend ExoPlayer components, including adaptive bitrate algorithms, to enhance playback performance under varying network conditions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex playback issues such as buffering, latency, rebuffering, and stability concerns in real-time streaming environments.
- Work with dynamic manifests (MPD, M3U8) and implement adaptive streaming logic to ensure smooth playback experiences across diverse network scenarios.
- Integrate ad technologies such as IMA, DAI,



and SSAI into the video player framework to support monetization strategies.
- Utilize QoE analytics tools to monitor, diagnose, and improve real-world playback performance, ensuring high-quality user experience.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, QA, and backend teams to guarantee consistent playback quality across various devices and platforms.
- Participate in code reviews, contribute to best practices, and drive continuous improvement initiatives within streaming projects.
