Role Description The Advanced Creative Writing Mentor is a part-time remote role focused on guiding students in developing sophisticated creative writing skills. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting one-on-one or small group online sessions, providing detailed feedback on students’ stories, poems, and other creative projects, and helping learners refine plot, character development, voice, and structure. The mentor will design lesson plans, exercises, and reading recommendations tailored to each student’s level and goals, and support them in long-form projects such as short story collections or book manuscripts.

The role also involves monitoring student progress,



maintaining clear communication with learners and guardians, and upholding EdifyChamps’ standards for a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess robust Writing and Creative Writing skills, with demonstrated ability to craft engaging, polished narratives.
- Candidates should possess Book Coaching and Coaching skills to guide students through longer projects and ongoing skill development.
- Candidates should possess solid Research skills to source examples, readings, and references that enrich creative lessons.
- Advanced command of English language, grammar, and storytelling techniques.
- Prior experience teaching, tutoring, or mentoring in writing or related fields is highly beneficial.
- Ability to communicate clearly, patiently, and respectfully with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
- Reliable access to a computer and stable internet connection for remote sessions.
- Relevant academic background in English, Creative Writing, Literature, Education, or equivalent professional experience is preferred.
