India Accounting Manager / Team Lead – Canadian Accounting

Qualification: Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA)

Experience: 6–10 years

Location: Remote – Anywhere in India

Work Mode: 100% Work From Home

Employment Type: Full-Time

Working Days: Monday to Friday

About the Opportunity

As the India Accounting Manager / Team Lead, you will join an Ontario-based CA firm as a key member of its India leadership team, working closely with the firm's Canadian partners and managers. The role combines team leadership, technical accounting and taxation, quality review, and hands-on execution, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional looking to take on greater leadership responsibility.

About the Role

You will be responsible for managing and mentoring the India accounting team, overseeing the quality and timely delivery of accounting and tax assignments, supporting team development, and helping strengthen processes and workflows as the India operation continues to grow.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the India accounting team.
- Supervise and mentor Senior Accountants, Intermediate Accountants, and Junior Accountants.
- Allocate work, manage workloads, and monitor deadlines and turnaround times.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and training to team members.
- Review work prepared by the team and conduct initial quality-control checks.
- Monitor team productivity, quality, and overall performance.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of additional India-based accounting professionals.
- Build and develop a strong, high-performing accounting team.

Accounting & Taxation

- Review accounting files, working papers, and financial statements before submission to the Canadian team.




- Review Canadian corporate tax returns and supporting schedules.
- Oversee and review T1, T2, and, where applicable, T3 tax preparation.
- Review GST/HST filings and related compliance work.
- Manage compilation engagements and financial statement preparation.
- Assist with review engagement and audit-support files.
- Review bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, general ledger accounts, and year-end accounting work.
- Ensure files comply with firm standards and applicable Canadian accounting requirements.
- Remain hands-on with accounting and tax work and step in where technical expertise is required.

Process & Operations

- Develop and improve standardized accounting procedures, checklists, and workflows.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and turnaround time.
- Assist with busy-season planning and capacity management.
- Strengthen scalable processes as the India team continues to grow.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and data-security standards.

Stakeholder Management

- Act as the primary liaison between the India team and Canadian partners, managers, and senior staff.
- Communicate accounting and tax matters clearly and professionally with the Canadian team.
- Address queries, resolve issues, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality work.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across the India and Canadian teams.

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA).




- 6–10+ years of relevant accounting experience preferred.
- Proven experience in team management and people leadership.
- Solid hands-on experience in accounting, taxation, financial reporting, and working-paper preparation.
- Minimum 3 years of direct Canadian accounting or Canadian CPA-firm experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with private companies, SMEs, and owner-managed businesses is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of Canadian accounting workflows, financial statements, and taxation.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
