Position: Senior Ansible Developer (Level 3 / L3)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled L3 Senior Ansible Developer / Automation Engineer to join our team. In this senior role, you will act as a subject matter expert leading the design, architectural development, and optimization of enterprise-grade automation solutions.

You will be responsible for defining automation standards, building complex multi-tier playbooks/collections, managing Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) / AWX infrastructure, and mentoring L1/L2 engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Architecture & Development: Design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade Ansible Playbooks, Roles, Collections, and energetic inventory scripts following Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices.
- Platform Management: Administer, scale, and maintain Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), Ansible Tower, or AWX environments, including RBAC setup, execution environments, and credentials management.
- Custom Module & Integration Development: Develop custom Ansible modules, plugins, and filters using Python. Build REST API integrations to seamlessly connect Ansible with CI/CD pipelines, ITSM systems (Service Now/Jira), and monitoring tools.
- Troubleshooting & Escalation (L3): Act as the final escalation point for complex automation failures, execution environment issues, performance bottlenecks, and playbook debugging.
- Governance & Standards: Establish coding standards, security guardrails, vault encryption rules, and code review processes for the automation ecosystem.




- CI/CD & Dev Ops Integration: Integrate Ansible workflows into CI/CD pipelines (Git Lab CI, Git Hub Actions, Jenkins, or Azure Dev Ops) for automated testing, linting, and deployment.
- Mentorship & Collaboration: Mentor L1 and L2 engineers, provide operational runbooks, and collaborate closely with cloud, networking, security, and infrastructure teams.

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Experience: 6+ years of IT operations/Dev Ops experience, with 4+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience in enterprise Ansible automation.
- Core Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), AWX, or Ansible Tower.
- Strong scripting skills in Python (for custom module development) and Bash/Shell/Power Shell.
- Mastery of YAML, Jinja2 templating, and custom inventory management.
- Solid understanding of Linux/Unix administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Hands-on experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD tools (Git Lab, Git Hub, Jenkins, etc.).
- Experience with API integrations (REST, OAuth, JSON/XML parsing).
- Security & Compliance: Proficiency with Ansible Vault, SSH key management, and security compliance automation.

Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills

- Experience automating public/hybrid cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Open Shift).
- Exposure to complementary IaC tools (Terraform).
- Certifications: Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation or Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA).
