Job Summary
n
We are looking for an experienced Senior Full Stack Engineer with strong expertise in payment systems, Java/backend development, REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and modern frontend technologies.
n
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience working with Wire, ACH, and RTP payment systems, along with a strong understanding of backend processing, concurrency, thread-safe programming, event-driven architectures, and API integrations.
n
The role involves developing scalable and resilient payment applications across the full technology stack, including backend services, APIs, event-driven components, and frontend applications using Angular, React, or Vue. Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, APIC, and spec-driven development is highly desirable.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
1. Payment Systems Development
n
n
- Design, develop, and maintain applications supporting Wire, ACH, and RTP payment processing.
n
- Understand and implement end-to-end payment transaction workflows.
n
- Develop solutions for payment initiation, validation, processing, routing, status management, exceptions, and reconciliation.
n
- Handle transaction failures, retries, reversals, duplicate transactions, and timeout scenarios.
n
- Ensure payment applications are reliable, scalable, secure, and performant.
n
- Collaborate with payment-domain SMEs and product teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
n
n
2. Backend Development
n
n
- Design and develop robust backend services using modern programming languages and frameworks.
n
- Build scalable backend processing components for high-volume financial transactions.
n
- Develop reusable business logic and service components.
n
- Implement appropriate error handling, validation, logging, and monitoring.
n
- Optimize backend services for performance, scalability, and reliability.
n
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to enterprise coding standards.
n
- Troubleshoot complex production and application issues.
n
n
3. API & Microservices Development
n
n
- Design and develop RESTful APIs and microservices.
n
- Build scalable and loosely coupled services using microservices architecture.
n
- Develop API contracts, request/response models, validation, and error-handling mechanisms.
n
- Integrate internal and external payment systems through APIs.
n
- Work with APIC (API Connect) and related API management/integration capabilities.
n
- Implement API security, authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and versioning.
n
- Ensure APIs are backward compatible and meet performance requirements.
n
- Support API monitoring, troubleshooting, and production operations.
n
n
4. Distributed Systems & Concurrency
n
n
- Design and develop highly available distributed applications.
n
- Apply strong understanding of distributed systems concepts to payment-processing solutions.
n
- Design applications to handle high transaction volumes and concurrent requests.
n
- Implement thread-safe and concurrency-aware solutions.
n
- Identify and resolve race conditions, deadlocks, synchronization issues, and resource contention.
n
- Apply appropriate concurrency patterns and synchronization mechanisms.
n
- Design resilient systems capable of handling partial failures and service dependencies.
n
- Implement appropriate retry, timeout, circuit breaker, and fallback strategies.
n
- Ensure transaction processing maintains consistency and integrity across distributed services.
n

5. Event-Driven Architecture
n
n
- Design and develop event-driven payment processing solutions.
n
- Implement asynchronous communication between microservices and enterprise systems.
n
- Work with messaging/event-streaming platforms where applicable.
n
- Design reliable event-processing workflows.
n
- Handle duplicate events, retries, ordering, idempotency, and failure scenarios.
n
- Ensure asynchronous processing meets business and transaction-processing requirements.
n
- Contribute to modernization of traditional synchronous applications into event-driven architectures.
n

6. Frontend Development
n
n
- Develop responsive and user-friendly web applications using modern frontend technologies.
n
- Work with one or more of:

- Integrate frontend applications with REST APIs and backend microservices.

- Implement reusable UI components and application workflows.

- Handle client-side validation, error handling, and API integration.

7. Containerization & Kubernetes
n

- Containerize applications using Docker.

- Deploy and manage microservices in Kubernetes-based environments.

8. APIC & Enterprise Integrations

- Develop and maintain integrations using API Connect (APIC).
n
- Configure and consume APIs across internal and external systems.
n
- Support API gateway and integration requirements.
n
- Collaborate with integration teams to troubleshoot API connectivity and transaction issues.
n
- Ensure APIs follow enterprise security, governance, and design standards.
n
- Support integration between payment systems, microservices, databases, and third-party platforms.
n
n
9. Spec-Driven Development
n
n
- Apply spec-driven development practices where applicable.
n
- Translate functional and technical specifications into API contracts, implementation tasks, and test scenarios.
n
- Work with OpenAPI/Swagger specifications and contract-first API development.
n
- Ensure API implementations remain aligned with approved specifications.
n
- Collaborate with product, architecture, and QA teams to identify gaps between specifications and implementation.
n
- Promote reusable API contracts and consistent development standards.
n
n
10. Testing & Quality
n
n
- Develop unit, integration, API, and end-to-end tests.
n
- Validate payment transaction flows across multiple services.
n
- Implement automated testing practices to improve regression coverage.
n
- Test concurrency, performance, resiliency, and failure scenarios.
n
- Validate API contracts and integration points.
n
- Participate in code reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
n
- Troubleshoot defects across frontend, backend, API, and infrastructure layers.

11. DevOps & Production Support
n

- Collaborate with DevOps/SRE teams on application deployment and production operations.
n
- Participate in CI/CD processes and automated deployments.
n
- Support application monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting.
n
- Analyze production incidents and perform root cause analysis.
n
- Implement improvements to application reliability and operational efficiency.
n
- Support release activities, deployment validation, and rollback procedures.
