Position: Embedded Firmware Engineer – Automotive ECU & RTOS
Experience: 3 to 8 Years
Location: Bangalore
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, integrate, and test production embedded firmware for automotive ECUs .
Develop low-level firmware for 32-bit ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers .
Develop and optimize firmware in RTOS environments , managing timing, concurrency, and resource constraints.
Perform MCU/device bring-up and debug firmware on real hardware.
Develop Power-On Self-Test (POST), Built-In Self-Test (BIST), memory tests, and hardware diagnostic functions .
Implement controlled power-up, shutdown, sleep, and wake-up sequences while meeting power and quiescent-current requirements.
Develop fault detection, fault handling, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), and secure-state mechanisms .
Develop CPU, communication, and memory load/stress-test functions for system validation and characterization.
Implement and monitor CAN and Ethernet communication , including error, link-fault, cable-fault, and CRC/signal-integrity detection.
Develop firmware interfaces for SPI, UART, I2C, CAN, and Ethernet .
Implement and support TCP/UDP networking and UDS diagnostics .
Collaborate with hardware, software, platform, and test engineers during bring-up, debugging, validation, and deployment .
Must-Have Technical Skills
3+ years of hands-on embedded firmware development experience.
Robust programming skills in Embedded C/C++ .
Robust experience with 32-bit ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers .
Hands-on experience with RTOS , preferably FreeRTOS.
Strong knowledge of SPI, UART, I2C, and CAN .
Experience with Ethernet and TCP/UDP .
Experience with UDS automotive diagnostics .
Good understanding of DTCs, diagnostic sessions, and tester communication .
Working knowledge of Python for tooling, automation, or testing.
Strong hardware debugging and low-level troubleshooting skills.
