JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with 5-8 years of experience to manage, maintain, and optimize our SQL Server database environments. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, security management, automation, and troubleshooting across Production, UAT, and Development environments.

Key responsibilities:

n

n

1. Database Administration & Environment Support

n

n
- Support production, UAT, and development environments with day-to-day database administration tasks.
n
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server database systems.
n
- Manage routine database operations such as monitoring, maintenance, purging, and alert handling.
n
- Manage and refresh DEV and QA environments to ensure consistency with production data (where applicable).
n

2. Performance Tuning & Optimization

n

n
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies for queries, indexes, and server configurations.
n
- Provide expertise in database performance tuning and SQL Server performance features.
n
- Troubleshoot and resolve blocking, deadlocks, and other performance bottlenecks.
n
- Proactively monitor system behavior to predict potential performance or failure issues.
n
- Advise development and support teams on performance issues and recommend tuning solutions.
n

3. Backup & Recovery

n

n
- Manage backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
n




- Ensure database recoverability through proper backup strategies and validation.
n
- Ensure system stability and availability through proactive monitoring and issue resolution.
n

n

4. Indexing & Query Efficiency

n

n
- Proficient in creating and managing clustered and non-clustered indexes.
n
- Understand and manage index fragmentation and perform index maintenance activities.
n

n

n

5. Security & Access Management

n

n
- Ensure database security through proper user access management and role-based permissions.
n

n

n

6. Automation & Scripting

n

n
- Automate routine DBA tasks using T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
n
- Develop scripts for monitoring, maintenance, and administrative tasks.
n

n

n

7. Capacity Planning & Monitoring

n

n
- Perform capacity planning and monitor resource utilization.
n
- Continuously assess database growth and performance trends.
n

n

n

8. Troubleshooting & Incident Management

n

n
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to resolve complex database issues.
n
- Handle production incidents with focus on root cause analysis and long-term fixes.
n

n

n

9. Best Practices & Continuous Improvement

n

n
- Stay updated with evolving database technologies and infrastructure changes.
n
- Ensure adherence to best practices in database design, maintenance, and performance management.
n
