They handle time studies, line balancing, and workflow optimization to ensure the smooth manufacturing of apparel.
RESPONSIBILTIES
Measure operation time using time and motion studies.
Calculate SAM (Standard Allowed Minutes) or SMV for each garment style.
Create operation bulletins (OB) and process breakdowns.
Fix daily production targets for individual operators and sewing lines.
Line Planning and Balancing
Design and set up line layouts before a recent style starts.
Balance work across operations to stop blockages and idle time.
Calculate required machines, attachments, and workers.
Monitor Work-In-Progress (WIP) to keep production moving smoothly.
Efficiency and Waste Reduction
Track hourly output and line efficiency.
Reduce non-productive time and off-standard losses.
Apply lean manufacturing methods and 5S standards.
Maintain worker skill matrices and build multi-skilled operator teams.
