General Surgeon Roles & Responsibilities

The General Surgeon shall be responsible for:

a) Providing surgical consultation, diagnosis, treatment and patient management.

b) Performing general and emergency surgical procedures as per clinical requirements.

c) Conducting pre-operative and post-operative assessment and care.

d) Attending OPD, IPD, OT, emergency and on-call duties as assigned.

e) Maintaining accurate patient records, operative notes and medical documentation.

f) Following hospital protocols, infection-control, patient-safety and applicable regulatory requirements.

g) Coordinating with other departments/specialists for patient care whenever required.

h) Participating in clinical meetings, teaching, training and academic activities, wherever applicable.

i) Maintaining patient confidentiality, skilled ethics and discipline.

j) Performing any other duties assigned by the HOD/Medical Superintendent/Management
