Role Overview
Own the commercial layer between sales, operations and finance pricing, contracts, bids, and margins on both the customer and vendor side.
Key responsibilities
Pricing and deal structuring
Build and maintain pricing for devices, software subscriptions, AMC and installation services
Review and approve non-standard pricing; run deal-level P&L; analysis workings before quotes go out
Structure commercial models (capex vs. subscription, bundled vs. unbundled, rate-card vs. fixed-fee) and flag where a proposed structure erodes margin or cash flow
Bids, tenders and proposals
Own end-to-end response to RFPs/RFQs and government/PSU tenders eligibility checks, BOQ costing, EMD/PBG arrangements, commercial bid formats
Maintain a repository of past bids, rate benchmarks and win/loss reasons
Contracts and terms
Draft, review and negotiate customer and vendor contracts, POs, work orders, SLAs and vendor agreements in coordination with legal
Track commercial obligations payment milestones, penalty and LD clauses, price escalation, exit terms — and ensure operations knows what has been committed
Vendor and procurement commercials
Negotiate rate cards with installation, logistics and hardware vendors; run comparative evaluations and close rate gaps in scope
Monitor vendor performance against agreed rates and SLAs
Collections
Ensure clean handover from order booking to invoicing; resolve billing disputes
Drive collections follow-up with sales and finance; report ageing and stuck receivables
Reporting
Produce deal, customer and product-level margin analysis; supply commercial inputs into product-wise P&L;
Report monthly on order book, realised vs. estimated margin, revenue leakage and receivables
Flag loss-making accounts or contracts up for renegotiation
Qualifications and experience
5–10 years in commercial, contracts, pricing or business finance roles, preferably in technology, industrial products, logistics or infrastructure
High attention to detail with numbers and contract language
Comfortable operating between sales urgency and finance caution
Documents decisions rather than relying on verbal agreement
