About the Role
LIGHTS is seeking a Research Analyst with a completed PhD in History to contribute to its research and publication initiatives. This role is primarily focused on producing high-quality, institutional archival work, including detailed reports, book chapters, and long-form academic content.
The position requires robust independent research capabilities, critical analysis of sources, and the ability to synthesise complex material into well-structured and coherent narratives.
Key Responsibilities
Research and Writing
Conduct in-depth research using primary/qualitative interviews and secondary sources
Develop and write comprehensive research reports and analytical briefs
Author book chapters and contribute to long-form publications
Engage with interdisciplinary themes where history intersects with science, policy, and society
Ensure accuracy, originality, and academic rigour in all written outputs
Content Development
Structure and organise research material into publication-ready formats
Assist in the conceptualisation of books and research projects
Work closely with the leadership team to refine and finalise manuscripts
Skills and Competencies
Robust academic writing and analytical skills
Ability to work with archival material and complex datasets
High attention to detail and commitment to research integrity
Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
Solid time management and ability to meet deadlines
