Role & responsibilities
1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Medical Education Library.
2. Maintain and organize medical books, journals, periodicals, and reference materials.
3. Catalogue and classify library resources systematically.
4. Manage the issue, return, renewal, and reservation of library materials.
5. Maintain accurate records of library transactions and user registrations.
6. Conduct periodic stock verification and maintain inventory records.
7. Coordinate procurement of new books, journals, and academic resources.
8. Manage subscriptions and renewals of medical journals and periodicals.
9. Manage access to e-books, e-journals, and digital learning resources.
10. Assist users in accessing medical research databases and online resources.
11. Support doctors, residents, students, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals with information resources.
12. Conduct literature searches to support clinical research and academic activities.
13. Assist faculty and trainees in identifying relevant research articles and reference materials.
14. Provide orientation and guidance to new users regarding library facilities and services.
15. Support medical education programs, academic sessions, workshops, and training activities.
16. Maintain and update library databases and Library Management System (LMS) records.
17.
Ensure proper preservation, maintenance, and security of library resources.
18. Prepare periodic reports on library utilization, resources, and user activities.
19. Coordinate with publishers, vendors, database providers, and other external agencies.
20. Support documentation and library-related requirements for accreditation and regulatory inspections.
21. Assist in preparing and monitoring the annual library budget and resource requirements.
22. Promote awareness and effective utilization of available medical and digital resources.
23. Keep updated with developments in medical information services and digital library technologies.
24. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and information-security requirements.
25. Provide efficient, professional, and user-friendly library services to support medical education, research, and continuous career development.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelors Degree in Library and Information Science (BLISc) or equivalent – Mandatory.
- Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science (MLISc) – Preferred.
- Experience in a medical college, teaching hospital, healthcare institution, or academic library will be an added advantage.
