Role: Gen AI + GCP

Overview :

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist with solid experience delivering end-to-end Generative AI and machine learning solutions, with the ability to take a use case from problem definition and experimentation through to production deployment. This role requires someone who has deep data science expertise and can independently build, evaluate, productionise, and maintain robust solutions in a cloud environment.

The role sits within a strategically important AI project in the finance department. Given the visibility and impact of the work, we need someone who can operate effectively in a demanding environment, engage confidently with stakeholders, make pragmatic technical decisions, and take ownership of delivering a high-quality production solution.

Responsibilities:

- Own the end-to-end delivery of data science solutions including GenAI and Agentic Systems, from solution design and experimentation through to production deployment, operational readiness, and continuous improvement
- Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, risks, and delivery progress clearly to stakeholders, helping drive evidence-based decisions and ensuring the solution meets business and operational expectations
- Collaborate effectively with data engineers, platform engineers, developers, and other data scientists, while remaining capable of personally building and deploying core components needed to productionise the solution
- Apply statistical modelling, machine learning, and Generative AI techniques to structured and unstructured data, and ensure solutions are robust, explainable, well-evaluated, and fit for production use
- Build and maintain the deployment layer for models and LLM applications, including APIs, pipelines, cloud infrastructure, monitoring, and model lifecycle management needed to run solutions reliably in production




- Apply strong development practices, including version control, testing, CI/CD, containerisation, and reusable code, to ensure solutions are robust and maintainable
- Produce clear and maintainable technical documentation covering solution design, deployment, operational processes, and key decisions to support handover, governance, and ongoing maintenance

Requirements and Experience:

- Degree in a quantitative or STEM field, or equivalent practical experience in data science, machine learning, or software engineering
- Strong hands-on experience designing, building, deploying, and maintaining machine learning or LLM-based/Agentic solutions in production environments, with clear ownership beyond proof of concept or prototype stage
- Experience deploying and operating solutions on GCP
- Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with experience writing production-quality code and building APIs or services for model deployment and integration
- Strong understanding of software engineering and MLOps practices, including version control, unit testing, CI/CD, containerisation, monitoring, and infrastructure as code
- Strong understanding of statistics, machine learning techniques, and large language model applications, with the ability to select appropriate methods and define meaningful evaluation approaches for business problems
- Experience in agentic coding assistant tools, claude code is a plus.
- Experience working in Agile teams and collaborating effectively across technical and business disciplines, while also being able to work independently and drive delivery with limited support
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts, challenge constructively, influence stakeholders, and make pragmatic delivery decisions in ambiguous environments
- Able to take ownership in post-production, including issue resolution, iteration, and ongoing improvement
