Senior Software Developer / Technical Lead Python, SQL, GCP & AI

Role Overview

Hudson Data is looking for a Senior Software Developer for production delivery of its cloud-based products. The ideal candidate should be a strong hands-on engineer with deep expertise in Python, SQL, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Llinux, excel, backend development, and AI-assisted software development, while also having the ability to lead and mentor a development team.

The candidate should remain hands-on with architecture, coding, code reviews, debugging, deployment, and production troubleshooting, while providing technical direction to developers working under them.

Key Responsibilities

- Technical Expertise to review development work, establish coding standards, conduct code reviews, and ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
- Python Development: Design, develop, review, and troubleshoot production-grade Python applications, backend services, automation, APIs, and data-processing components.
- Advanced SQL & Database Development: Write and optimize complex SQL, understand database schemas and relationships, review AI-generated SQL, troubleshoot data issues, and ensure that application code correctly implements the defined database schema and business logic.
- AI-Assisted Development: Effectively use AI coding tools to accelerate development while independently validating the generated code. The candidate must be capable of identifying incorrect logic, security vulnerabilities, inefficient code, hallucinated APIs/libraries, and schema inconsistencies rather than relying blindly on AI output.
- Code Review & Debugging: Be highly proficient at reviewing and debugging code written by both developers and AI tools, identifying root causes and implementing reliable fixes.
- Google Cloud Platform: Have strong hands-on expertise with GCP and be capable of designing, deploying, securing, monitoring, and troubleshooting production applications on Google Cloud.
- Cloud Architecture: Design scalable, secure, reliable and cost-efficient GCP solutions using services such as Cloud Run, GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, IAM, Secret Manager, Cloud Logging and Cloud Monitoring, as applicable.
- APIs & Integrations: Design and maintain REST APIs and integrations between applications, databases,



cloud services and third-party platforms.
- Production Deployment: Take ownership of moving applications from development through testing and deployment into a reliable production environment.
- CI/CD & DevOps: Implement or oversee automated build, testing and deployment pipelines using Git, CI/CD, containers and appropriate GCP/DevOps tooling.
- Production Support: Monitor applications, investigate production incidents, analyze logs, troubleshoot performance and availability issues, and implement permanent fixes.
- Security & Quality: Ensure appropriate authentication, authorization, IAM, secrets management, data protection, logging, testing and secure coding practices.
- Architecture & Standards: Translate product and business requirements into technical architecture, database schemas, APIs and development tasks, while ensuring that the team follows the agreed design.
- Performance & Scalability: Optimize Python applications, SQL queries, databases and cloud resources for performance, reliability and cost.
- Team Delivery: Work closely with product and business teams, estimate development effort, identify technical risks, remove blockers and ensure that the development team delivers against agreed timelines.

Required. Leadership Requirements

The candidate should be capable of leading developers while remaining technically hands-on.



They should be able to review the team's code, identify technical weaknesses, mentor junior/mid-level engineers, establish development standards, make architecture decisions, and take accountability for the team's technical output.

They should also be comfortable challenging AI-generated solutions and developers' implementations when they do not conform to the required architecture, database schema, business requirements, security standards, or production-quality expectations.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience: Preferably 7+ years of software development experience, including meaningful technical leadership experience and hands-on production experience with GCP.

The ideal candidate is not simply someone who can write Python/SQL or generate code using AI. Hudson Data needs someone who can understand the complete system, determine whether the code is correct, fix it when it is not, and ultimately take ownership of making the product work reliably in production.
