Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse – NICU to provide specialized nursing care to newborns, including premature, low-birth-weight, and critically ill neonates. The nurse will work closely with neonatologists and the multidisciplinary team to ensure protected and effective neonatal care.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide specialized nursing care to neonates admitted to the NICU.
- Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, temperature, respiratory status, and other clinical parameters.
- Assist doctors in the management of critically ill and premature newborns.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, injections, and other treatments as prescribed.
- Manage and monitor incubators, radiant warmers, phototherapy units, infusion pumps, and other NICU equipment.
- Assist with procedures such as IV cannulation, blood sampling, and emergency interventions as required.
- Provide respiratory support care and monitor neonates receiving oxygen/ventilatory support as per hospital protocol.
- Maintain proper feeding schedules, including tube feeding when prescribed.
- Monitor intake/output, weight, urine output, and other relevant clinical parameters.
- Maintain strict infection-control and aseptic practices.




- Identify changes in the baby's condition and immediately report abnormalities to the doctor/senior nurse.
- Maintain accurate nursing notes, medication charts, observation charts, and patient records.
- Provide proper handover during shift changes.
- Educate and counsel parents/attendants regarding newborn care, feeding, hygiene, and treatment plans.
- Assist during neonatal emergencies and resuscitation procedures.
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and readiness of NICU equipment.
- Follow hospital policies, patient-safety standards, and NICU protocols.

Requirements

- Qualification: GNM / B.Sc. Nursing
- Valid nursing registration.
- Previous experience in NICU/Pediatric ICU will be preferred.
- Knowledge of neonatal care, infection control, and emergency procedures.
- Basic understanding of neonatal resuscitation and newborn assessment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in rotational shifts.
- Compassionate, attentive, and responsible approach toward newborns and their families.
