Maintenance Head – Hospitality

Position: Maintenance Head / Chief Engineer
Department: Engineering & Maintenance
Industry: Hotel / Resort / Hospitality
Location: Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh
Reporting To: General Manager / Management

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Maintenance Head to lead the Engineering & Maintenance function of our hospitality property. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, safe and efficient operation of all engineering systems, guest rooms, public areas, restaurants, banquet facilities, lawns, kitchen equipment and other property infrastructure.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on knowledge of Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, DG, STP/ETP, Fire & Life Safety, Preventive Maintenance and Building Maintenance, along with good team-management and vendor-management skills.

Key Responsibilities

1. Engineering & Maintenance Operations

- Oversee day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel/resort.
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of electrical, mechanical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
- Monitor all critical equipment and utility systems.
- Ensure quick response to guest-room and operational maintenance complaints.
- Maintain the property infrastructure, including guest rooms, public areas, restaurants, banquet halls, kitchens, lawns and other facilities.

2. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance

- Develop and implement an effective preventive maintenance schedule.
- Ensure timely servicing of all equipment and machinery.
- Minimize equipment breakdowns and operational downtime.
- Maintain proper records of preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance.
- Conduct regular inspections of the property and identify potential maintenance issues.

3. Electrical & Power Management

- Supervise electrical distribution systems, panels, transformers and other electrical installations.
- Manage DG sets, UPS and power backup systems.
- Monitor electricity consumption and identify opportunities for energy savings.
- Ensure safe operation and maintenance of electrical equipment.

4. HVAC & Utility Management

- Manage HVAC systems, chillers, AHUs, FCUs,



pumps and ventilation systems.
- Monitor water supply, pumps, tanks and plumbing systems.
- Ensure proper operation of STP/ETP and other utility systems.
- Monitor energy and water consumption and implement cost-saving measures.

5. Fire & Life Safety

- Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of fire-fighting and fire alarm systems.
- Conduct regular checks of fire pumps, hydrants, extinguishers, alarms and emergency systems.
- Coordinate fire drills and emergency preparedness activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable fire and safety requirements.

6. Team Management

- Lead, train and supervise the Engineering & Maintenance team.
- Prepare duty rosters and allocate daily maintenance responsibilities.
- Monitor staff performance and productivity.
- Conduct technical training and toolbox talks for engineering staff.
- Maintain discipline and ensure adherence to hotel policies and SOPs.

7. Vendor & AMC Management

- Manage external contractors, service providers and vendors.
- Coordinate AMC activities for critical equipment.
- Obtain quotations and coordinate repairs/replacement work as required.
- Monitor vendor performance, quality and timelines.
- Ensure proper documentation of AMC and service records.

8. Budget & Cost Control

- Prepare annual engineering and maintenance budgets.
- Control maintenance costs without compromising safety or service quality.
- Monitor spare-parts inventory and engineering consumables.
- Identify opportunities for energy conservation and operational efficiency.

9. Compliance & Documentation

- Maintain all engineering logbooks, equipment records and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure statutory inspections and required certifications are completed on time.
- Maintain records of electrical, fire, HVAC, DG, lift, water-treatment and other critical systems.




- Ensure compliance with hotel safety standards and applicable statutory requirements.

Required Qualifications

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
- Additional technical qualifications in hospitality engineering will be an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of hotel/resort engineering operations.
- Good understanding of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, DG, fire & life safety and utility systems.

Experience

- 8–12+ years of relevant experience in hotel/resort engineering and maintenance.
- Candidates with experience as Chief Engineer / Engineering Manager / Maintenance Head in reputed hotels, resorts or hospitality properties will be preferred.
- Experience in handling large properties, banquet facilities, restaurants, swimming pools and high-capacity utilities will be an advantage.
