A Lab Assistant (or Laboratory Assistant) supports scientific, medical, academic, or industrial testing by collecting samples, maintaining equipment, and recording data under the supervision of senior lab technicians or managers.

​Job Overview

​Position: Lab Assistant / Laboratory Assistant

​Reports To: Senior Laboratory Technician / Lab Manager / Chief Scientist

​Work Settings: Hospitals, diagnostic clinics, universities, research institutes, pharmaceutical companies, or industrial testing labs.

​Key Responsibilities & Duties

​1. Sample Handling & Preparation

​Collect, receive, process, label, and log samples (blood, tissue, soil, chemicals, etc.) into the laboratory database.

​Prepare culture media, reagents, solutions, and specimens following standard operating procedures (SOPs).

​2. Laboratory & Equipment Maintenance

​Sterilize, clean, and maintain lab tools, glassware, instruments, and work surfaces.

​Monitor and stock lab supplies, chemicals,



and inventory; reorder materials as needed.

​Perform routine calibration and preventative maintenance on basic instruments (e.g., centrifuges, pH meters, scales).

​3. Test Assistance & Data Entry

​Assist scientists or technicians in running routine non-complex experiments and standard tests.

​Document test findings, maintain accurate logbooks, and enter data into Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or spreadsheets.

​4. Safety & Compliance

​Follow strict biosafety, chemical safety, and hazard disposal protocols.

​Maintain clean waste disposal pathways (e.g., biohazard containment, hazardous chemical handling).

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹28,218.86 per month
