Barista -Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate motivated Senior Barista to deliver exceptional coffee experiences through advanced brewing techniques, consistent beverage quality and outstanding customer service. The Senior Barista serves as the café's coffee specialist, mentoring team members, maintaining equipment and ensuring the highest standards of coffee preparation and presentation also supporting the Café Supervisor or Manager in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and serve premium espresso-based beverages, brewed coffee, tea and other café drinks according to standard recipes.
- Demonstrate expertise in espresso extraction, milk texturing, latte art, and manual brewing methods (e.g., pour-over, French press, AeroPress, Chemex).
- Dial in espresso daily and adjust grind settings to ensure optimal flavour and consistency.
- Conduct coffee tastings (cuppings) and maintain quality control for all coffee products.
- Prepare and serve light food items such as sandwiches, pastries and snacks.
- Ensure beverages and food are presented attractively and served promptly.
- Ensure consistency in beverage quality, presentation and customer experience.
- Welcome customers, take orders and handle payments professionally.
- Ensure coffee machines, grinders and other equipment are cleaned, calibrated, and maintained.
- Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups and other supplies and report replenishment needs.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety and hygiene throughout the café.
- Identify and onboard reliable vendors for food items, beverages, consumables, café equipment, and other operational requirements.
- Obtain quotations from multiple vendors for all purchases.
- Compare quotations based on quality, pricing, delivery timelines, payment terms, and service support.
- Finding vendors and Negotiate competitive pricing and commercial terms with vendors.
- Prepare quotation comparison statements and submit recommendations for management approval.




- Coordinate with the Accounts and Procurement teams for purchase orders and vendor payments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure uninterrupted supplies.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and minimize wastage.
- Maintain records of purchases, stock consumption, and vendor invoices.
- Monitor café expenses and support cost-control initiatives.
- Prepare daily and monthly operational reports.
- Ensure proper documentation of quotations, purchase records, invoices, and vendor agreements.
- Support café management in menu development, seasonal beverage creation and operational improvements.
- Handle customer feedback and resolve issues promptly and professionally.

Requirements

· Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Hotel Management & Hospitality Management.

· 2–10 years of professional barista experience in a specialty coffee or premium café setting.

· Extensive knowledge of coffee beans, roasting, extraction, brewing methods and beverage preparation.

· Strong latte art and advanced espresso preparation skills.

· Experience training and mentoring baristas.

· Good communication and customer service skills.

· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality.

· Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.

· Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Preferred qualifications

- Specialty coffee certifications (e.g., SCA Barista Skills or equivalent).
- Experience with commercial espresso machines and grinder calibration.
- Knowledge of coffee sourcing, roasting fundamentals and sensory evaluation.
- Experience in café operations, inventory management and quality assurance.
