ETP Operator - Effluent Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for running the plant efficiently, ensuring treated water meets pollution control norms, and maintaining equipment.

Here are the standard roles and responsibilities:

*1. Daily Plant Operation*

- *Operation & Monitoring*: Start, stop and operate all ETP units - screens, equalization tank, aeration tank, clarifier, MBBR / MBR, filters, UF, RO, evaporator.

- *Parameter Checks*: Monitor pH, TDS, COD, BOD, MLSS, MLVSS, DO, flow rate, sludge level every shift.

- *Chemical Dosing*: Prepare and dose chemicals correctly - lime, alum, PAC, polyelectrolyte, acid, alkali, sodium hypochlorite, anti-scalant.

- *Sludge Management*: Operate filter press / centrifuge / drying beds and manage sludge disposal as per norms.

*2. Maintenance*

- *Preventive Maintenance*: Check pumps, blowers, aerators, agitators, dosing pumps for noise, vibration, leakage. Do daily greasing and cleaning.

- *Housekeeping*: Keep plant area, tanks, and equipment clean and leak-free. Ensure 5S.

- *Minor Repairs*: Attend breakdowns and inform maintenance / supervisor for major issues.

*3. Quality & Compliance*

- *Meet Standards*: Ensure inlet and outlet water quality meets TNPCB / CPCB / State Pollution Control Board standards.

- *Lab Testing*: Collect samples,



do basic lab tests and maintain lab records.

- *Statutory Compliance*: Follow SOPs for ETP, ZLD, and hazardous waste handling. Assist during audits and inspections.

*4. Documentation & Reporting*

- *Logbooks*: Maintain shift logbook, chemical consumption register, energy consumption, sludge generation, flow meter readings.

- *Reporting*: Report any abnormality, high COD/BOD, equipment failure, or overflow to EHS / Plant Manager immediately.

- *MIS*: Prepare daily / monthly ETP performance report.

*5. Safety & EHS*

- *Safety*: Use PPE - gloves, goggles, gumboots, mask. Follow LOTO, confined space entry, and chemical handling safety.

- *Environment*: Ensure no untreated effluent bypass or illegal discharge. Ensure proper labeling and storage of chemicals and hazardous waste.

*Key Skills Required*

- Knowledge of biological and physico-chemical treatment process

- Basic lab testing and understanding of water parameters

- ITI / Diploma / http://B.Sc in Chemistry, Setting, Chemical Engg with 2-5 years ETP/STP/WTP experience preferred

- Ability to work in shifts
