Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive IT System Administrator to manage, secure, and optimize our critical technology infrastructure. In this role, you will be the backbone of our IT operations, ensuring high availability across both our corporate offices and the manufacturing shop floor.
Beyond core system maintenance, you will take ownership of IT security protocols and the implementation and enforcement of company-wide IT policies to safeguard our data, assets, and production uptime.
Key Responsibilities1. Policy & Compliance Management
- Draft and Update Policies: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive IT and data security policies (e.g., Acceptable Use, Password Management, Remote Access, Change Management).
- Enforcement & Audits: Monitor organizational compliance with established IT policies and conduct regular internal access and security audits.
- Software Licensing: Ensure full compliance with software licensing laws, tracking usage and managing renewals.
- Asset Management: Maintain a strict inventory of all hardware, software, and network components across the company.
2. IT Security & Risk Mitigation
- Network Safeguards: Deploy, configure, and manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), endpoint protection, and antivirus solutions.
- Access Control: Administer Role-Based Access Controls (RBAC), Active Directory, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to prevent unauthorized entry.
- Patch Management:
Maintain a regular deployment schedule for critical OS and software security patches with minimal disruption to operations.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery: Oversee automated data backup schedules; design, test, and execute robust disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
3. Systems & Manufacturing Infrastructure Support
- Server Maintenance: Manage physical, virtual (VMware/Hyper-V), and cloud-based servers to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
- ERP & Shop Floor Systems: Support the infrastructure hosting our ERP system and ensure stable connectivity between IT systems and operational technology (OT/Production lines).
- Network Administration: Maintain local area networks (LAN/WAN), Wi-Fi coverage across the plant, and secure VPN access for remote users.
- Troubleshooting: Act as the Tier 2/3 escalation point to diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- Experience: 3–5+ years of experience as a System/Network Administrator, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Technical Proficiencies:
- Deep understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory,
Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and Office 365 administration.
- Solid grasp of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Routing).
- Experience with firewall configuration (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco, Sophos) and cyber security frameworks.
- Familiarity with manufacturing-specific environments (ERP systems, barcode scanners, production floor networks) is highly preferred.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to communicate technical policies clearly to non-technical factory staff.
Preferred Certifications
(Any of the following are a major plus)
- CompTIA Security+ / Network+
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- Cisco CCNA
- ITIL Foundation (for policy/process management)
