ABOUT THE ROLE

Position: Academic Trainer – Training & Development

Location: Chennai

Reports to: Head – Training & Development

Experience: 2 to 5 years

We are looking for an experienced Academic Trainer who can build the teaching capability of our trainers and mentors. The role will be responsible for training, coaching, evaluating and continuously developing academic teams who deliver competitive-exam preparation programs. The ideal candidate should have strong command of Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability and Soft Skills, along with the ability to convert subject expertise into effective classroom delivery. Candidates from placement training, soft-skills training, aptitude training, corporate training or competitive-exam training backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Conduct Training Needs Analysis (TNA) to identify subject, delivery, communication and classroom-management gaps among trainers and mentors.

· Design and deliver structured training programs for existing trainers, mentors and newly inducted academic team members.

· Develop and execute an Academic Induction Program for new trainers and mentors covering teaching standards, classroom practices, student engagement and institutional processes.

· Train trainers on Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability and relevant Soft Skills/Placement Training concepts.

· Conduct Train-the-Trainer (TTT) sessions to improve explanation skills, questioning techniques, examples, problem-solving approaches and student engagement.

· Conduct demo classes, mock teaching sessions and trainer assessments before/after deployment.

· Observe classroom sessions and provide structured feedback, coaching and improvement plans to trainers.

· Create trainer certification/readiness frameworks, quality checklists and evaluation rubrics to maintain consistent academic standards.

· Develop training modules, presentations, facilitator guides, activities,



practice exercises and assessment tools for trainer development.

· Coach trainers on different learning styles, learner handling, doubt clarification, board work/presentation skills and effective use of teaching aids.

· Work closely with academic leadership, mentors and branch teams to identify recurring student/academic issues and design training interventions.

· Support continuous development programs, refresher training and upskilling sessions for trainers and mentors.

· Track training effectiveness through assessments, classroom observations, feedback and performance indicators, and recommend corrective actions.

· Ensure training programs are aligned with the academic quality standards, processes and policies of Veranda RACE.

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

· Strong knowledge of Quantitative Aptitude / Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Verbal Ability.

· Strong Soft Skills / Placement Training capability, including communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

· Excellent classroom facilitation and Train-the-Trainer (TTT) skills.

· Ability to simplify complex concepts and teach them using practical examples.

· Strong presentation, coaching, mentoring and feedback skills.

· Ability to assess trainer performance and identify specific improvement areas.

· Good understanding of instructional design, adult learning principles and interactive training methods.

· Strong content-development and training-material creation skills.

· Good stakeholder-management and coordination skills.

· Comfortable using PowerPoint, digital teaching tools and other learning technologies.





QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in any relevant discipline; postgraduate qualification/certification in Training & Development, Education, HR, Soft Skills or a related field is an advantage.

· 2–5 years of relevant experience in academic training, placement training, aptitude training, soft-skills training, competitive-exam training or corporate learning & development.

· Candidates with experience in training trainers/teachers/faculty will be preferred.

· Experience in competitive-exam coaching, especially Banking, SSC, TNPSC, Railways or similar examinations, will be an added advantage.

The ideal candidate should be confident in front of a classroom, patient while coaching faculty, data-driven in evaluating performance and passionate about improving teaching quality and student outcomes.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to ₹50,000.00 per month
