Position: Packing Supervisor , Department: Packing / Dispatch , Location: Rajkot, Gujarat
Reporting To: Department HOD / Plant Head , Experience: Minimum 2+ Years , Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Purpose

The Packing Supervisor shall be responsible for planning, supervising and controlling day-to-day packing activities, with particular focus on export-worthy packaging, customer-specific packing requirements, packing material inventory, quality, documentation and secure handling of finished products.

The position is responsible for ensuring that products are packed correctly, safely, economically and within the required timeline, while minimizing packing material wastage and preventing transit/handling damage.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

- Packing Operations & Supervision
- Supervise daily packing activities and allocate work to packing manpower.
- Ensure packing is completed as per production/dispatch priorities and committed schedules.
- Monitor packing quality, productivity, manpower utilization and work discipline.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Stores and Dispatch teams for smooth execution.

- Export Packaging

- Handle and supervise export-worthy packaging as per applicable customer requirements.
- Ensure products are adequately protected against damage during handling, storage and transportation.
- Verify packing method, identification, labelling and other applicable packing requirements before dispatch.
- Give preference to robust packing methods suitable for long-distance/export transportation.





- Customer-Specific Packing Requirements

- Understand customer-specific packing instructions/specifications.
- Ensure packing is carried out exactly as per approved customer requirements.
- Communicate any deviation, ambiguity or technical concern to the concerned authority before dispatch.
- Maintain relevant packing records/documentation for traceability.

- Packing Material Inventory & Control

- Maintain proper stock and consumption records of packing materials.
- Monitor availability of packing materials against upcoming requirements.
- Prevent shortages through timely coordination with Stores/Purchase.
- Control excess consumption, wastage and avoidable damage of packing materials.
- Support periodic physical stock verification and reconciliation.

- Quality & Damage Prevention

- Ensure packing quality is maintained consistently.
- Check packed material for proper protection and suitability before movement/dispatch.
- Identify causes of packing-related damage or customer complaints and support corrective actions.
- Ensure optimum utilization of packing materials without compromising product protection or customer requirements.

- Documentation & Computer Skills





- Maintain day-to-day packing records using computer systems.
- Prepare/update packing-related reports, inventory records, material consumption and dispatch-supporting data.
- Candidate should be comfortable with MS Excel, email and basic computerized documentation/data entry.

- Team Supervision & Coordination

- Supervise packing workers/operators and ensure proper work allocation.
- Coordinate effectively with internal departments, contractors and other concerned stakeholders.
- Maintain proper housekeeping, workplace discipline and adherence to applicable safety requirements in the packing area.

Candidate Profile

Education: ITI / Diploma / Graduate or relevant technical qualification preferred.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Packing / Packaging / Dispatch operations in a manufacturing organization, preferably in a supervisory capacity.

Preferred Industry Exposure: Engineering / Manufacturing / Foundry / Auto Components / Heavy Engineering / Export-oriented manufacturing.

Priority Preference: Candidates having hands-on experience in export packaging + customer-specific packaging + packing material inventory control should be given preference.
