Job Summary
We are seeking a Network Performance & Automation Engineer responsible for monitoring, analyzing, automating, and improving enterprise network performance across WAN, SD-WAN, campus, data center, cloud, and security environments. The role focuses on proactive performance engineering, telemetry-driven insights, automation-led troubleshooting, and operational efficiency improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Performance Engineering
· Analyze network performance across latency, jitter, packet loss, throughput, bandwidth utilization, application response time, and device health
· Identify bottlenecks across WAN, SD-WAN overlays, firewalls, load balancers, wireless, LAN, and cloud connectivity paths
· Create performance baselines, trend reports, capacity forecasts, and service improvement recommendations
Automation & Tooling
· Develop automation scripts and workflows for network health checks, configuration validation, incident triage, reporting, and remediation support
· Integrate tools using APIs across monitoring, observability, ITSM, CMDB, SD-WAN, firewall, and cloud platforms
· Build reusable dashboards, reports, runbooks, and self-service automation capabilities for operations teams
Monitoring, Telemetry & Observability
· Work with SNMP, NetFlow/IPFIX, syslog, streaming telemetry, synthetic testing, logs, events, and packet capture data
· Configure and enhance monitoring thresholds, alerts, dashboards, and correlation rules to reduce noise and improve incident detection
· Support root cause analysis using telemetry, flow analysis, path visibility, device metrics, and application dependency insights
Operational Improvement
· Drive automation-led reduction of manual effort, faster incident resolution, and improved service availability
· Collaborate with network, security, application, cloud, and service desk teams to improve end-to-end service performance
· Document standard operating procedures, troubleshooting playbooks, and performance improvement actions
Required Skills
· Robust understanding of enterprise networking, routing, switching, SD-WAN, firewalls, load balancers, and cloud connectivity
· Hands-on scripting experience with Python, Ansible, REST APIs, JSON, YAML, and automation frameworks
· Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, Cisco DNA Center, vManage, Splunk, Grafana, ELK, AppDynamics, or similar platforms
· Ability to perform packet analysis, flow analysis, performance troubleshooting, and RCA documentation
Good to Have
· Experience with AIOps, event correlation, anomaly detection, predictive analytics, and closed-loop automation
· Knowledge of ITSM workflows, ServiceNow integration, CMDB data models, and incident/problem management processes
· Exposure to cloud platforms, SASE/SSE, Zscaler, Prisma Access, Fortinet, Cisco, Palo Alto, F5, and multi-vendor network environments
Certifications (Preferred)
· CCNP Enterprise / CCNP Security
· Python / Ansible / DevNet Associate or Professional
· Monitoring, observability, cloud, or ITIL certifications
