Job Summary

The End User Computing & VDI Support Engineer is responsible for providing operational support for enterprise identity, collaboration, virtual desktop, remote-access, and application-delivery services. The role ensures secure and reliable user access across Active Directory, Microsoft 365, VDI platforms, VPN and Unified Access Gateway environments, and AWS WorkSpaces integrated with Microsoft Entra ID. The engineer also supports VDI patching, software packaging, application installation, incident resolution, and service improvement.

Key Responsibilities

- Active Directory and Entra ID: Manage user accounts, groups, organizational units, access permissions, password resets, account unlocks, group policies, and identity-related incidents across on-premises Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Microsoft 365 Support: Provide end-user and administrative support for Exchange Online, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, licensing, mailbox access, distribution groups, and common Microsoft 365 connectivity or authentication issues.
- VDI End-User Support: Troubleshoot virtual desktop login failures, profile issues, session performance, application access, printing, peripheral redirection, connectivity, and other user-experience problems.
- VPN Support: Configure and troubleshoot remote-access VPN clients, authentication, MFA, certificates, connectivity, split tunnelling, and access to corporate resources.
- Unified Access Gateway Support: Monitor and support UAG appliances, certificates, authentication flows, external VDI access, service availability, configuration changes, and incident resolution.
- VDI Patching: Plan, test, deploy, and validate operating-system and application patches for VDI master images, golden images, pools, and persistent desktops while following change-management and rollback procedures.
- AWS WorkSpaces Access Management: Provision, modify, suspend, restore,



and decommission AWS WorkSpaces; manage user assignments and access through Microsoft Entra ID and AWS IAM Identity Center integration; and troubleshoot authentication, registration, and client-access issues.
- Software Packaging and Installation: Package, test, deploy, upgrade, and remove applications in VDI environments using approved enterprise deployment tools and standards.
- Application Compatibility: Perform installation validation, dependency checks, user acceptance support, remediation, and documentation for applications delivered through VDI.
- Monitoring and Incident Management: Monitor service health, respond to incidents and requests, perform root-cause analysis, meet SLAs, and escalate issues to infrastructure, security, network, cloud, or vendor teams when required.
- Security and Compliance: Apply least-privilege access, MFA, Conditional Access, patching, vulnerability-remediation, and audit requirements in accordance with organisational policies.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain knowledge articles, standard operating procedures, build documents, support checklists, asset records, access reviews, and operational reports.
- Service Improvement: Identify recurring issues, automate repetitive support activities where appropriate, and recommend improvements to availability, security, performance, and user experience.

Required Skills and Experience

- Hands-on experience supporting Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 services.
- Experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise VDI environments and remote-access technologies.
- Working knowledge of VMware Horizon or a comparable VDI platform, including Unified Access Gateway.
- Experience with Windows desktop administration, profile management, image management, patching, and application deployment.




- Knowledge of AWS WorkSpaces provisioning, client support, directory integration, and identity-based access management.
- Experience with software packaging technologies such as MSI, MSIX, App-V, PowerShell-based installers, or enterprise software-distribution tools.
- Understanding of SSO, SAML, MFA, Conditional Access, certificates, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, firewalls, and proxy concepts.
- Ability to diagnose complex incidents using logs, monitoring tools, structured troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
- Robust communication, documentation, customer-service, and cross-team coordination skills.
- Experience working within ITIL-based incident, request, problem, and change-management processes.
