A Pre-Sales Manager acts as the strategic bridge between complex technical solutions and the sales team's commercial goals. They lead technical discovery, design tailored solutions, and manage a team of specialists to ensure that what is promised to the customer can be effectively delivered.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of Solution Engineers or Pre-Sales Consultants, overseeing recruitment, training, and performance to ensure high-quality technical support throughout the sales cycle.
Solution Design: Lead the technical discovery process to understand client pain points and architect custom solutions, including the development of Proof of Concepts (POCs).
Sales Support & Demos: Partner with account managers to deliver high-impact product demonstrations and technical presentations that translate complex features into explicit business value.
Bid & Proposal Management: Oversee the technical response for RFPs (Requests for Proposals) and RFIs,
ensuring all technical documentation and solution specifications are accurate and persuasive.
Cross-Functional Liaison: Act as the technical voice of the customer for product development and marketing teams, providing feedback on market needs and competitor trends to influence the product roadmap.
Process Optimization: Continuously improve pre-sales workflows, demo environments, and sales collateral to increase deal velocity and win rates.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education: Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related technical field.
Experience: Generally 10+ years in pre-sales, solution engineering, or technical consulting, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of Drone industry-specific technologies and the ability to simplify complex technical jargon for non-technical audiences.
