About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Plant HR & IR Manager to manage the complete HR and employee relations function at our manufacturing facility.
The role will primarily focus on blue-collar workforce management, recruitment, attendance, discipline, contractor management, employee relations and HR operations at the factory.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working on the factory floor, interacting directly with workers, supervisors and contractors, and taking ownership of day-to-day people-related issues.
Key Responsibilities
1. Blue-Collar Recruitment & Manpower Planning
- Manage end-to-end recruitment of blue-collar workers for the factory.
- Drive bulk and volume hiring for production and support functions.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of workers through local recruitment, referrals, manpower agencies, contractors and other channels.
- Coordinate joining, documentation, induction and deployment of new workers.
- Work closely with Production and Operations teams to understand manpower requirements.
- Ensure timely fulfilment of manpower requirements and minimise vacancies.
2. Workforce & Attendance Management
- Manage attendance, absenteeism, late-coming, overtime and shift-related HR matters.
- Monitor daily manpower availability against production requirements.
- Track worker attrition and identify reasons for absenteeism and turnover.
- Maintain accurate employee and worker records.
- Coordinate with payroll teams to ensure attendance and salary inputs are accurate and timely.
3. Employee Relations & Industrial Relations
- Handle day-to-day worker grievances and employee relations matters.
- Maintain discipline across the factory and address misconduct appropriately.
- Resolve worker issues in coordination with supervisors and management.
- Handle disciplinary processes, warning letters and other HR documentation.
- Develop strong relationships with workers, supervisors and production teams.
- Proactively identify and resolve workforce-related conflicts.

Contractor & Manpower Vendor Management
- Manage labour contractors and manpower suppliers.
- Ensure adequate manpower deployment as per agreed requirements.
- Monitor contractor performance, attendance and worker retention.
- Coordinate contractor documentation and compliance requirements.
- Verify manpower-related bills and records.
- Build a reliable network of local manpower vendors for continuous blue-collar hiring.
5. Factory HR Operations
- Manage day-to-day HR operations at the plant.
- Conduct worker induction and orientation.
- Maintain personnel files, attendance records and HR documentation.
- Coordinate uniforms, ID cards, employee facilities and other HR requirements.
- Conduct regular shop-floor interactions and HR rounds.
- Ensure HR policies and processes are effectively implemented at the factory.
6. Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws and statutory requirements.
- Maintain required registers, records and documentation relating to workers and contractors.
- Coordinate PF, ESIC, labour welfare and other statutory matters.
- Support labour inspections, audits and statutory documentation.
- Work closely with external consultants where required.
7. Performance & Productivity
- Work with Production Managers and Supervisors to improve workforce productivity.
- Monitor absenteeism, attrition and manpower utilisation.
- Support implementation of worker incentive and performance-related initiatives.
- Identify recurring workforce issues and recommend solutions to management.
8. Employee Engagement & Welfare
- Organise employee engagement and welfare initiatives for factory workers.
- Ensure worker facilities and basic HR requirements are addressed.
- Conduct regular employee feedback and grievance discussions.
- Support a positive, disciplined and productive work environment.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who:
- Has 510 years of experience in Plant HR / Factory HR / HR & IR / Personnel / Manufacturing HR.
- Has strong experience managing blue-collar workers and shop-floor manpower.
- Has handled bulk hiring / volume recruitment.
- Has experience managing labour contractors and manpower vendors.
- Has strong knowledge of attendance, discipline, employee relations and labour compliance.
- Is comfortable spending significant time on the factory floor.
- Has strong communication, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
- Is proactive, firm but approachable, and capable of handling difficult workforce situations.
- Can work independently and take ownership of the complete factory HR function.
Preferred Industry Experience
Candidates from furniture manufacturing, manufacturing, engineering, fabrication, automotive, construction, garments, FMCG or other labour-intensive industries will be preferred.
