Job Summary:
The School Counsellor supports the academic, emotional, and social development of students. They work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to identify challenges, promote mental well-being, and implement strategies for success in both school and life.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group counseling to address emotional, social, behavioral, or academic issues.
- Assist students in developing skills such as time management, stress coping, conflict resolution, and goal setting.
- Identify students in need of support through referrals, teacher input, or observation.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop behavior plans or academic interventions.
- Conduct risk assessments and crisis intervention as needed (e.g., self-harm, bullying, family problems).
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions.
- Facilitate referrals to external mental health professionals or social services when necessary.
- Plan and deliver workshops, classroom guidance lessons, or parent seminars on relevant topics (e.g.,



bullying prevention, career planning).
- Support students in career exploration and planning, including guidance on course selection and post-secondary options (in middle/high schools).
- Uphold ethical and legal standards related to student confidentiality and counseling practices.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, social work, or a related field (required).
- Master’s degree in school counseling, counseling psychology, or equivalent (preferred or required depending on the region).
- State certification or licensure as a school counsellor (varies by location).
- Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting.
- Solid interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
