We are looking for a Senior Automotive Software Engineer with strong experience in embedded software development, AUTOSAR, and Functional Safety for safety-critical automotive products. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience developing and implementing software safety mechanisms for products such as steering, braking, or airbag systems.

The candidate will be responsible for contributing to the definition, development, implementation, and verification of safety-related software functions in compliance with automotive functional safety standards such as ISO 26262.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop embedded automotive software for safety-critical applications.
- Apply robust software development experience to automotive ECU and safety-related systems.
- Work with AUTOSAR architecture, including relevant Classic AUTOSAR components and software layers.
- Experience with ASIL Part B, C and D.
- Define and implement software safety mechanisms such as monitoring, diagnostics, fault detection, error handling, watchdog mechanisms, memory protection, communication monitoring, and other safety measures.
- Demonstrate hands-on experience in implementing safety mechanisms and explain their contribution to product safety.
- Work on safety-critical automotive products, preferably steering and/or braking systems; experience with airbags is also valuable.
- Understand the product architecture, system behaviour, failure modes, and safety goals of automotive systems.
- Contribute to functional safety activities in accordance with ISO 26262.
- Define and derive safety-related software requirements, including Functional Safety Requirements (FSR)



and Technical Safety Requirements (TSR) and their allocation to software.
- Analyze safety requirements and translate them into software design and implementation.
- Support development of safety concepts and ensure traceability from safety requirements through implementation and testing.
- Work closely with systems, hardware, safety, and verification teams to ensure safety requirements are correctly implemented.
- Develop software for microcontroller-based automotive ECUs and demonstrate understanding of single-core and multi-core microcontroller architectures.
- Troubleshoot and analyze embedded software issues at ECU and microcontroller level.
- Participate in design reviews, safety reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions.
- Support software verification, validation, and safety compliance activities.

Preferred Experience

- Experience in steering or braking ECU software development.
- Experience working on ASIL-rated automotive systems.
- Knowledge of safety mechanisms at both hardware and software levels.
- Experience with safety analysis techniques such as FMEA/FMEDA/FTA.
- Experience with automotive communication protocols such as CAN/CAN FD, LIN, FlexRay, or Automotive Ethernet.
- Experience with software development and verification in a regulated/safety-critical environment.

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or a related technical discipline.

Experience Level

Typically 8-12+ years of automotive embedded software experience, with significant hands-on experience in functional safety and safety-critical ECU development.
