We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Production & Planning Engineer who can efficiently manage shop floor operations and production scheduling in our mechanical engineering unit. Responsibilities include preparing daily production plans, optimizing machine and manpower utilization, tracking cycle times, and ensuring timely dispatch to meet client commitments without compromising on quality or safety.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Control (PPC):
- Prepare, update, and execute daily and weekly production schedules based on work orders and material availability.
- Plan machine loading, capacity utilization, and manpower allocation to achieve target output.
- Monitor job progress on the shop floor, identify potential bottlenecks, and take immediate corrective actions to prevent delays.
- Coordinate closely with the stores and purchase team to ensure raw materials, tooling, and consumables are available prior to job setup.

Shop Floor Operations & Execution:




- Supervise daily machining/fabrication activities to ensure work aligns with technical drawings and specifications.
- Review cycle times, setup times, and machine running hours to optimize operational efficiency.
- Minimize machine downtime, idle time, and work-in-progress (WIP) buildup across workstations.
- Enforce shop floor discipline, proper housekeeping, and 5S standards.

Technical Competence & Quality Alignment:
- Thorough understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T;, and process routing sheets.
- Hands-on familiarity with machining operations, jigs, fixtures, cutting parameters, and tool life.
- Work in tandem with the quality team to minimize rejection, rework, and scrap generation.
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring quality issues or production shortfalls.

Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate daily production reports (DPR), machine efficiency logs, and operator performance data.
