Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior WordPress Developer to join our in-house development team. In this role, you will lead the backend development of custom WordPress solutions — including theme development, custom plugin creation, and site optimization — while collaborating closely with our design and product teams.

Responsibilities:
- Design and develop custom WordPress themes from scratch, ensuring responsive, cross-browser compatibility
- Build and maintain custom WordPress plugins using PHP and the WordPress REST API
- Write clean, well-documented, and scalable PHP code following best practice
- Integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, and external services
- Conduct thorough code reviews and enforce coding standards across the team
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues in a timely manner
- Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate mockups into fully functional sites
- Manage staging environments, deployments, and version control using Git
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to internal technical documentation





Required qualifications
- 4-5 years of qualified PHP and WordPress development experience
- Deep understanding of WordPress core architecture, hooks, filters, and the WP REST API
- Proven expertise in custom theme and plugin development
- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+)
- Solid experience with MySQL / MariaDB including query optimization
- Working knowledge of Git, branching strategies, and CI/CD workflows
- Understanding of web security best practices (OWASP standards)
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines

Preferred qualifications
- Experience with WooCommerce development and e-commerce integrations
- Familiarity with headless WordPress using Gatsby.js or Next.js
- Knowledge of Advanced Custom Fields (ACF Pro) and Gutenberg block development
- Experience with caching solutions such as Redis, Varnish, or WP Rocket
