JOB DESCRIPTION
Manager / Executive Yarn & Fabric Purchase & Sourcing
Position Overview
Responsible for end-to-end Yarn and Fabric procurement and sourcing, ensuring the right quality, quantity, price, and delivery timelines. The role will focus on specialized yarns and fabrics, vendor development, cost management, inventory planning, and supplier relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Yarn & Fabric Procurement
- Plan and execute procurement of yarns and fabrics based on production and business requirements.
- Source specialized, value-added, and technical yarns and fabrics as per product specifications.
- Ensure timely availability of materials without impacting production schedules.
- Coordinate with Production, PPC, Design, Merchandising, Quality, and Finance teams.
2. Costing & Consumption
- Prepare and validate yarn/fabric costing based on market prices, specifications, and process requirements.
- Calculate and evaluate fabric consumption, yarn requirement, wastage, and yield.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternate materials, suppliers, and sourcing strategies.
- Benchmark purchase prices against market trends and historical prices.
3. Vendor Management & Development
- Manage existing suppliers and ensure consistent quality, price, delivery, and service levels.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop current vendors/suppliers based on business requirements.
- Conduct supplier assessment, price comparison, capability evaluation, and commercial negotiations.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and resolve quality, delivery, and commercial issues.
4. Negotiation & Price Management
- Negotiate competitive prices, payment terms, lead times, MOQ, and other commercial conditions.
- Monitor market trends and raw material price movements.
- Maintain effective price management and purchase rate benchmarking.
- Drive cost reduction and value engineering initiatives.
5. Inventory Management
- Monitor yarn and fabric inventory levels and ensure optimum stock availability.
- Coordinate with PPC and Stores to maintain appropriate minimum, maximum, and safety stock levels.
- Avoid excess inventory, stock-outs, slow-moving, and obsolete materials.
- Track material consumption and identify opportunities for inventory optimization.
6. Stock Development
- Develop and maintain strategic stock of critical, specialized, and fast-moving yarns/fabrics based on business requirements.
- Plan stock development in line with production forecasts, customer requirements, and market availability.
- Ensure availability of new and specialized materials required for product development.

- Solid knowledge of Yarn & Fabric procurement and sourcing
- Exposure to specialized/value-added yarns and fabrics
- Knowledge of fabric consumption and costing calculations
- Strong vendor development and supplier management skills

- Inventory and stock management
- Analytical and cost-conscious approach
- Good coordination and communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel/ERP procurement modules
Qualification & Experience
- Qualification: Graduate / Diploma in Textile Technology, Textile Engineering, Supply Chain, or related discipline.
- Experience: 3–8 years of relevant experience in Yarn & Fabric Purchase / Sourcing, preferably in the home textile or textile manufacturing industry.
