Software Engineer (SDE I) || Altera Institute - Digiaccel Learning

As a Software Development Engineer (SDE I), you will contribute to building intuitive, scalable and high-performance applications that enhance the learner experience across our ecosystem. You will work alongside experienced engineers, product managers, and designers to develop robust solutions while strengthening your technical expertise across the full technology stack.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving challenging problems, learning rapidly, taking ownership, and creating products that have a meaningful impact on the lives of learners.

Key Responsibilities

Full Stack Development & Feature Delivery

- Design, develop, and maintain web applications using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js).
- Build reusable components and modules that enhance application performance and maintainability.
- Translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Contribute to feature development while ensuring adherence to established engineering standards.

Engineering Excellence & Code Quality

- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code by following coding standards and development best practices.
- Participate actively in code reviews and implement feedback to improve overall software quality.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to understand architecture decisions and strengthen engineering capabilities.
- Continuously improve code quality, application performance, and system reliability.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Execution

- Work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to understand business requirements and implement new features.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, testing cycles, and deployment activities.




- Coordinate with team members to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
- Actively contribute ideas and suggestions to improve existing processes and systems.

Problem Solving & Performance Optimization

- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues across different components of the application stack.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and contribute towards optimizing application responsiveness and scalability.
- Monitor application performance and proactively resolve technical concerns.

Quality Assurance & Continuous Learning

- Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure application quality and reliability.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive technical documentation.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry trends to continuously enhance technical skills.

What We're Looking For

- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 1-3 years of experience in full-stack software development using the MERN stack.
- Robust proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), React.js, Node.js, MongoDB, Nest.js and Express.js.
- A solid understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5 and CSS3.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and third-party integrations.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Exposure to Next.js and NestJS will be considered an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent collaboration skills and learning mindset combined with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
