- Department: Operations & Factory Production
- Location: Manufacturing Unit, Anekal, Bengaluru
- Employment Type: Full time (On-Site Factory Floor Role)
- Salary: 25,000 INR to 30,000 INR
- Reporting To: BDM
- Direct Reports: Machine Operators (Board Cutting, Grooving, Gum Pasting, Fabric Cutting), Screen Printers, Assembly Workers, Labeling Staff, and Packing Helpers
- Key Collaborators: Merchandising, Sourcing/Purchasing, Pre-Press Designer, Accounts
- Core Mandate: Direct day-to-day shop-floor execution across Track A (Header/Board conversion) and Track B (Fabric cutting/labeling), ensuring optimal machine utilization, zero fabric wastage, strict adherence to Master Job Cards (MJCs), and the on-time delivery of export-quality sample books monthly.

Role Overview

Shakuntala Sampling is looking for a hands-on, execution-driven Overall Production & Shop-Floor Supervisor for our manufacturing facility in Anekal, Bengaluru. This individual will manage end-to-end factory floor operations, leading machine operators and manual assembly teams to produce high-precision fabric catalogues, waterfall swatch hangers, and shade cards.

The ideal candidate has proven shop-floor leadership experience in rigid packaging, commercial bookbinding, print finishing, or textile swatch manufacturing. You will balance line throughput, enforce strict tolerances on cutting and grooving, prevent adhesive/gum failures, and ensure that finished products meet rigorous international export standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Line Balancing & Production Synchronization

- Supervise daily production schedules based on Master Job Cards (MJCs) issued by Merchandising.
- Balance workforce and machine allocations between Track A (Headers, Kappa/MDF board cutting, grooving, pasting, screen printing) and Track B (laying bed, semi-auto fabric cutting, labeling).
- Coordinate the timely convergence of finished headers and cut fabric swatches at the assembly station to minimize work-in-progress (WIP) holding time and prevent floor congestion.

2. Track A Management: Board Converting,

Grooving & Pasting

- Oversee the setup and operation of the 2 board cutting machines, ensuring square, burr-free cuts on 1.5 mm to 4 mm Kappa and MDF boards.
- Monitor grooving machine blade calibration (V-groove and U-groove angles/depths) to ensure smooth, crack-free folding without penetrating the base liner.
- Control the 2 gum-pasting machines: regulate glue viscosity, roller gaps, and adhesive film thickness for paper and buckram covers to eliminate cover warping and bubbling.
- Supervise manual screen printing on headers, monitoring ink mixing, mesh registration, print sharpness, and drying rack turnover.

3. Track B Management: Fabric Laying, Cutting & Backside Labeling

- Manage fabric roll intake and inspection on the meter laying bed, ensuring proper tension release, grain alignment, and layer clamping before cutting.
- Direct the operation of the semi-automatic fabric cutting machine and manual shade card cutters, enforcing dimensional accuracy within ±0.5 mm.
- Supervise the sequential application of backside fabric specification labels, verifying that swatch codes match the approved Master Job Card before moving to kitting.

4. Final Assembly, Fastening & Hardware Installation

- Manage manual mounting lines using high-tack 3M double-sided tapes, hot-melts, and cold adhesives matched to specific fabric weights.
- Oversee punching and eyelet button (ilet) riveting, ensuring consistent pneumatic/manual crimping pressure that secures swatches without crushing header boards.
- Ensure flush, scratch-free fitting of metal/plastic corner protectors and binding screws.

5. Quality Control & Export Packaging Governance

- Conduct hourly in-process quality audits against the physical "Golden Master" dummy:

- Check swatch alignment, waterfall step drops , glue adhesion strength, and spine squareness.
- Inspect hardware plating for rust, sharp burrs, or loose eyelets.
- Enforce export packing protocols: verify placement of silica gel desiccant packs, shrink-wrapping, edge-board corner protectors, and heavy-duty 5-ply/7-ply carton boxing.

6. Machine Maintenance, 5S & Shop-Floor Discipline

- Execute daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance routines across all equipment (blade sharpening, roller cleaning, lubrication of pneumatic punchers/cutters).
- Enforce 5S housekeeping standards: keep cutting beds, pasting rollers, and assembly tables free of dust, loose glue, and oil spots.
- Manage daily worker attendance, track shift productivity logs, enforce shop-floor safety, and minimize idle operator time.

Required Qualifications & Technical Competencies
- Education: Diploma or ITI in Mechanical Engineering, Printing & Packaging Technology, Textile Technology, or Vocational Manufacturing.
- Experience: 5 to 10 years of hands-on production supervision experience in: Textile sampling, swatch card, and catalogue manufacturing units,
- Technical Mastery:

1. Practical expertise in setting and maintaining board cutters, grooving machines, die-punchers, and gum-pasting rollers.
2. Deep understanding of fabric behavior (woven, knits, velvets, sheers, jacquards) during laying, tensioning, and cutting.
3. Practical knowledge of cold PVA adhesives, hot-melts, and double-sided tapes (3M acrylic/tissue tapes).Familiarity with manual screen printing (screen mesh, squeegee angle, solvent/water-based ink curing).
4. Working knowledge of pneumatic eyelet/riveting machines and binding hardware.

Must Have:

Leadership & Operational Skills:

- Proven ability to lead a floor team of 15 to 35 machine operators, screen printers, and manual assembly workers.
- Strong bilingual communication skills in Hindi, Kannada, or Tamil to manage the local workforce in Anekal.
- Basic proficiency in filling daily production logs, shift reports, and reading Master Job Cards.
