About Us
BedR India is rebuilding how student and budget housing works in this country — from discovery to day-to-day management.
We have two live products in production: a marketplace where students and young professionals find and book PGs and hostels (think Airbnb for budget rentals), and a full-stack SaaS platform that helps property owners and managers run their operations end-to-end — listings, bookings, payments, tenant communication, the works. Real users, real transactions, real growth.
We're now building a Flutter mobile app for the owner side, taking our SaaS into the hands of the people managing these properties on the ground.
Role Overview
This is a technical leadership role — but leadership here means shipping great code and making the people around you better at doing the same, not sitting in meetings.
You'll be working directly with a team of 3 sharp junior-to-mid developers and reporting to the founders. You'll own the architecture, set the technical direction, make the hard calls, and write code yourself every single day. You'll be the most experienced engineer in the room, and that should excite you — not intimidate you.
If you're looking for a role where you can slowly drift away from the keyboard into pure management, this isn't it. If you want to build something from an early stage, have real ownership over technical decisions, and shape what a growing proptech company looks like under the hood — read on.
What You'll Actually Work On
Lead the architecture and development of our Flutter mobile app
Own the technical roadmap across both our marketplace and SaaS products.
Build and optimize backend services — APIs, database design, performance, security.
Make infrastructure decisions on AWS, Docker,
and deployment pipelines that can scale with us.
Set code quality standards through reviews, documentation, and hands-on mentorship with the team.
Work closely with the founders and designers to translate product ideas into well-engineered features.
Identify and fix bottlenecks before they become crises — and debug them fast when they do.
Be the person who asks "why are we building this?" before asking "how?"
The Stack
React · Next.js · Node.js · PostgreSQL · Flutter · AWS · Docker
We don't do rewrites for fun. You'll be working with and improving an existing production codebase — so strong opinions, loosely held, matter more than preferences.
What We're Looking For
5–8 years of strong full-stack engineering experience, with real ownership over architecture and product decisions.
Hands-on expertise across the stack: Next.js on the frontend, Node.js/Express on the backend, PostgreSQL for data, AWS + Docker for infra.
Experience with or a serious willingness to go deep on Flutter — this is non-negotiable given where we're headed.
A track record of leading or meaningfully mentoring other engineers.
Strong product instincts — you understand that positive code that solves the wrong problem is still bad engineering.
A strong technical foundation; we have a lot of respect for people who came up through rigorous CS programs (IITs, NITs, and equivalents), though we care more about what you've built and how you think.
Experience in a startup or early-stage product environment — or a very clear reason why you're ready for one.
Who You Are
You're probably a few years into a solid engineering career and starting to feel like you want more than just tickets to close. You want to own something. You want to make calls. You want to build a team and see it get better over time.
You write code that your future self won't be embarrassed by, and you expect the same from the people around you. You can jump between Flutter and Next.js in the same week without losing context. You've debugged things in production at midnight and learned something from it.
You know the difference between over-engineering and building to scale — and you can explain that difference clearly to someone who's never thought about it.
And honestly? You're excited about the problem. PG rentals and property management in India are genuinely broken, and you see the opportunity in fixing the infrastructure layer underneath them.
What We Offer A real technical leadership role with full ownership over architecture and engineering culture.
Work directly with the founding team — short feedback loops, fast decisions, no bureaucracy.
An already live platform with real users, so you're building on something real — not starting from zero.
Competitive CTC for the stage we're at, with a possibility of equity.
On-site in Worli, Mumbai — we work together in person.
The kind of career acceleration that only comes from being early at a company that's going somewhere.
