Junior QA / Testing Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Junior QA / Testing Engineer with 6 months to 1 year of experience who has a good understanding of software testing, API testing, SQL, and test automation fundamentals.

The ideal candidate should have strong attention to detail, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to understand application requirements and identify issues effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Understand business and technical requirements and prepare test scenarios.

Design and execute functional and regression test cases.

Perform API testing and validate application responses.

Perform database validation using SQL/PostgreSQL.

Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps.

Perform retesting and regression testing after defect fixes.

Participate in integration and end-to-end testing.

Develop and maintain basic test automation scripts where applicable.

Analyze test failures and work with developers to identify root causes.

Participate in code/test reviews and Agile ceremonies.

Contribute to improving test coverage and overall product quality.

Required Skills

Manual Testing

Good understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).

Understanding of test cases, test scenarios, defect lifecycle, and test execution.

Experience with functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.

Ability to identify positive, negative, and edge-case scenarios.

API Testing

Basic understanding of REST APIs.

Hands-on exposure to tools such as Postman.

Understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, request/response, headers,



and JSON.

SQL / PostgreSQL

Good understanding of SQL.

Ability to write basic queries using:

SELECT

JOIN

WHERE

GROUP BY

ORDER BY

Ability to validate application data using SQL.

Automation Testing

Basic understanding of test automation concepts.

Exposure to tools/frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, JUnit, or TestNG is preferred.

Basic programming knowledge in Java, JavaScript, or Python is an advantage.

Problem Solving

Strong analytical and logical thinking.

Ability to investigate issues and identify possible root causes.

Good attention to detail.

Ability to think beyond predefined test cases and identify potential failure scenarios.

Good to Have

Selenium / Playwright / Cypress

Postman / REST Assured

Java / JavaScript / Python

PostgreSQL

Git

Basic CI/CD knowledge

Agile / Scrum experience

Exposure to performance or security testing

Education & Experience
