About YChat

YChat is a social communication platform designed to help people experience the internet together.

YChat is already live and being actively developed, and we are looking for a Flutter Developer to join our engineering team and help take the product to the next level.

What You'll Work On

- Real-time chat and messaging
- Hangouts and group experiences
- Co-browsing and WebViews
- File and media sharing
- Voice communication
- Team-oriented drawing
- Persistent sessions and activity/history
- Notifications and background functionality
- UI/UX improvements and animations
- Performance and reliability
- New product features and experiments

Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain YChat's Flutter application for Android and iOS.

- Improve and extend existing features in the live application.
- Work with APIs, WebSockets and backend services.
- Implement real-time communication and synchronization.
- Work with WebViews and browser-related functionality.
- Handle media, files, permissions, notifications and device capabilities.

- Improve application stability, responsiveness and overall UX.
- Write clean, scalable and maintainable Dart/Flutter code.
- Participate in technical and product discussions.
- Take ownership of features and deliver them end-to-end.

Requirements

- 2+ years of professional experience with Flutter and Dart.

- Good understanding of asynchronous programming and mobile application lifecycle.
- Experience with Git and collaborative development.

- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
- Good understanding of mobile UI/UX and attention to detail.

Valuable to Have

- Experience with WebSockets and real-time applications.

- Experience with Firebase and push notifications.
- Experience with file uploads, downloads and cloud storage.
- Experience with media handling.
- Experience building chat, social or collaboration products.
- Familiarity with native Android/iOS development.
- Experience optimizing Flutter applications for performance.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who likes building products, not just writing code.

You should be comfortable working in a fast-moving startup where requirements can evolve and where you'll sometimes need to figure out the best technical or product approach yourself.

We value developers who:

- Take ownership.
- Think about the user, not just the implementation.
- Care about UI quality and performance.
- Can work independently.
- Are comfortable solving unfamiliar technical problems.
- Move quickly without compromising code quality.

Why Join YChat?

- Work on a live product with real users.
- Join at an early stage and have a meaningful impact on the product.
- Work closely with the founder and engineering team.
- Own important features from development to release.
- Work on challenging real-time, collaborative and social features.
- Help shape the future direction of YChat.
