Role Description The Chief Librarian will provide strategic and operational leadership for the university library system, ensuring that resources, services, and technologies effectively support teaching, research, and learning across all schools. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing library staff, overseeing acquisitions and cataloging of print and digital resources, maintaining library budgets, and ensuring adherence to relevant academic and regulatory standards. The role involves developing policies for collection development, access, preservation, and user services,



as well as implementing modern library technologies, digital repositories, and information literacy programs for students and faculty.

The Chief

Librarian will collaborate with academic departments to align library resources with curriculum needs, support research projects, and organize outreach activities and training sessions. This is a full-time, on-site role based at the SGVU campus in Jaipur.

Qualifications

- Robust expertise in library and information science, including collection development, cataloging, classification, and reference services.
- Proficiency in library automation systems, integrated library management software, digital libraries, and online databases.
- Experience in managing library operations, staff supervision, budgeting, policy formulation, and strategic planning.
- Skills in user services, information literacy training, research support, and academic liaison with faculty and students.
- Knowledge of national and international academic standards, accreditation requirements, and best practices in higher education libraries.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS or equivalent); Ph.D. in Library and Information Science or a related field is highly desirable.
- Significant prior experience in a senior library management role in a university or comparable academic
