Role Description The Database Engineer SQL (XIL Platform) role at Agamin is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The individual in this role will design, develop, and maintain SQL databases that power the XIL platform, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating and optimizing database schemas, writing and tuning complex SQL queries and stored procedures, and implementing robust data models to support application and analytical workloads.

The role also involves managing database administration tasks such as monitoring performance, handling backups and recovery, and ensuring data security and integrity.

The Database

Engineer will collaborate with application developers, data engineers, and product teams to support new feature development, ETL processes, and continuous improvement of the platform’s data layer.

Qualifications

Experience: 8-10 years

Summary: Designs and maintains the optional SQL workflow database dedicated to workflow state, review lifecycle, and audit trails.

Key Responsibilities: Create schema for workflow, session,



and audit data modelsImplement indexing, query optimization, retention, and backup policiesSet up RBAC + secure DB connectionsEnsure performance SLOs for UI responsivenessSupport release cycles with DB migrations and versioning Technical Skills:PostgreSQL/MS SQL, SQL tuning, schema design, stored procedures, PITR, RBAC.

- Candidates should possess strong skills in Database Design and Data Modeling to create efficient, scalable schemas aligned with application and business requirements.
- Candidates should possess practical experience in Database Development and SQL programming, including query optimization and stored procedure development.
- Candidates should possess competencies in Database Administration, including performance monitoring, backup and recovery, security, and capacity planning.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes for integrating, cleansing, and transforming data across systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Familiarity with modern relational database platforms (such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL) and version control tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, with robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with automation scripts, performance tuning tools, and basic exposure to cloud or virtualized environments is an advantage.
