BRENMAN Consulting is seeking an experienced Contracts, Claims & Delay Analysis Consultant for a proposed metro rail consultancy engagement in Chennai.

The role covers contractual correspondence, claim preparation, extension-of-time submissions, delay and quantum analysis, and support for dispute proceedings. The selected consultant will work from the project office, supported by specialist reviewers as required.

Key Responsibilities

Contract administration and correspondence

- Review contract documents, amendments, historical correspondence and project records.
- Prepare contractual notices, letters and responses concerning client and contractor matters.
- Maintain correspondence, claim and contractual deadline registers.
- Review historical contractor submissions and prepare substantiated replies.

Claims and variations

- Assess the contractual basis and supporting evidence for claims, variations and non-scheduled items.
- Compile event chronologies and prepare preliminary and detailed submissions.
- Evaluate contractor claims and prepare technical and contractual responses.
- Respond to observations and requests for clarification from the client and General Consultant.

EOT, delay and quantum analysis

- Review Primavera P6 baseline programmes, updates and actual progress records.
- Analyse critical-path delays, concurrency and the impact of project events.
- Prepare EOT applications supported by delay analysis and quantum assessments.
- Develop and substantiate claim calculations in coordination with commercial and specialist teams.
- Assess contractor EOT, delay and disruption claims.

Dispute support

- Prepare statements of claim, replies and rejoinders for contractual committee proceedings.




- Organise supporting documents and assist with presentations.
- Coordinate with senior techno-legal reviewers and address comments through finalisation of submissions.

Qualifications and Experience

- Minimum five years of relevant experience in construction contracts, claims and associated planning or delay analysis.
- Demonstrable experience drafting contractual correspondence and preparing or assessing claims and EOT submissions.
- Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6, programme analysis and Excel.
- Understanding of variations, delay, disruption and claim valuation.
- Ability to connect contractual provisions with project evidence and time/cost impacts.
- Robust written English, analytical judgement and document management skills.
- Availability for dedicated deployment at the Chennai project office.

Preferred: A degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline. Metro, railway or major infrastructure experience is preferred, particularly track works. Construction law or dispute-resolution qualifications are an advantage.

Initial delivery priorities

- Review historical contracts and correspondence upon mobilisation.
- Prepare responses concerning historical contractor correspondence and claims within the first two months.
- Develop preliminary historical claim, variation and non-scheduled-item submissions within the first three months.
- Support ongoing monthly correspondence and EOT submissions at least every six months, or earlier following a major event.

- Location: Chennai, onsite at the project office.
- Duration: Proposed 12-month engagement.
- Compensation: Based on experience and agreed engagement terms.
