Role Description The Computer Aided Design (CAD) Designer will create precise solar design drawings and documentation that support residential and commercial solar installations. In this full-time remote role, the designer will produce site plans, roof layouts, string layouts, single-line diagrams, equipment elevations, and structural details in line with company standards and local code requirements. Daily responsibilities include translating engineering inputs into accurate CAD models, updating construction drawings based on feedback from engineers and project managers,
and ensuring all design packages are complete for permitting and utility interconnection.
The designer will collaborate with engineering and operations teams, maintain organized project files, and support continuous improvement of design templates and workflows to enhance efficiency and quality.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Computer-Aided Design (CAD) skills with experience in solar, electrical, or structural design tools.
- Candidates should possess Technical Drawing and Drawing skills to create clear, accurate, and industry-standard design documents.
- Candidates should possess Construction Drawings and Design Engineering skills to develop buildable plans that comply with codes and permitting requirements.
- Proficiency with common CAD platforms (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar) and familiarity with solar design software is beneficial.
- Understanding of basic electrical and structural concepts related to photovoltaic systems is advantageous.
- Robust attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a remote setting.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with engineering, permitting, and operations teams.
- Relevant technical education or certification in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field is preferred; prior experience in solar or construction design is a plus.
