Key Responsibilities
Develop, customize and maintain Android Audio Framework components for Automotive Infotainment systems.
Work with AOSP source code and implement audio requirements at Framework and Native layers.
Develop and debug functionality involving:
AudioManager / AudioService
AudioFlinger
AudioPolicyService / AudioPolicyManager
AudioTrack / AudioRecord
Audio Focus
Audio Routing
Audio Attributes
Audio Devices
Audio HAL
Analyze and resolve issues across:
Application → Android Audio Framework → Native Audio → Audio HAL → DSP / Audio Hardware
Implement and debug audio focus, routing, volume, ducking, muting and stream-priority requirements.
Work with concurrent audio sources such as Media, Navigation, Voice Assistant, Phone/Call and System Sounds.
Debug audio issues including no-audio, incorrect routing, audio interruptions, audio focus failures, audio dropouts/glitches, latency and volume-related issues.
Analyze audio behavior during boot, shutdown, suspend/resume and power-state transitions.
Work closely with Audio HAL, BSP/DSP and hardware teams to identify and resolve cross-layer issues.
Perform detailed root-cause analysis using logs, traces and source-code analysis.
Participate in design discussions, code reviews, integration and defect resolution.
Develop and execute unit/integration tests for Audio Framework functionality.
Support system integration,
validation and production releases.
Own issues from problem reproduction → root-cause analysis → implementation → validation → closure.
Technical Skills
Must Have
Android Audio Framework
Strong hands-on experience with Android Audio Framework / AOSP Audio, including:
AudioFlinger
AudioPolicy / AudioPolicyManager
AudioService
AudioManager
AudioFocus
Audio Routing
AudioTrack / AudioRecord
Audio Devices / Audio Attributes
Audio HAL
Ability to understand and debug the interaction between Java Framework, Native Audio Framework and HAL.
Programming
Strong C++ programming skills.
Good working knowledge of Java.
Strong understanding of
Object-oriented programming
Multithreading
Synchronization
IPC / Binder
Memory management
Good Linux programming and command-line skills.
AOSP / Android Platform
Hands-on experience working with AOSP source code.
Experience modifying or extending Android Framework / Native components.
Valuable understanding of Android system architecture.
Working knowledge of Binder / IPC and AIDL.
Understanding of Android build and integration mechanisms.
