The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in live video streaming technologies, with a proven track record of developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting high-performance video playback solutions.

As a Senior Android Video Player Engineer, you will own the end-to-end development of video player frameworks and SDKs, ensuring seamless, reliable, and high-quality playback experiences for end-users. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, QA, and backend engineers, to deliver innovative streaming solutions that meet the demands of a high-scale, real-time streaming ecosystem. Your contributions will directly impact the user experience, making streaming smooth, adaptive, and resilient under varying network conditions.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of Android development experience, with a strong focus on video playback and live streaming. Proficiency in Kotlin and Java is essential, along with extensive hands-on experience working with ExoPlayer, including customization and performance tuning for live streaming scenarios. A solid understanding of streaming protocols such as DASH and HLS, as well as adaptive bitrate logic and ad integration technologies like IMA, DAI, and SSAI, is required.

Experience in debugging and optimizing playback performance, addressing issues like buffering, latency, and rebuffering, is critical. Familiarity with video analytics tools and QoE metrics (such as Conviva, Mux, Hydrolix) to diagnose and improve playback quality is highly desirable. Additionally, expertise in modern Android development tools and frameworks, including Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines, and Flows, is preferred.

Strong communication skills in English and the ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced workplace are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

- Work with dynamic manifests (MPD/M3U8)

and implement adaptive bitrate logic to ensure smooth streaming regardless of network fluctuations.
- Integrate ad technologies like IMA, DAI, and SSAI into the video player framework, ensuring monetization and ad delivery are seamless and non-intrusive.
- Leverage QoE analytics tools to monitor, diagnose, and improve real-world playback performance, ensuring consistent quality across devices and platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, QA, and backend teams, to align development efforts and uphold high standards of playback quality and reliability.
