Technology & AI Analyst – Business Intelligence & Ratings Advisory
Role Overview
We are seeking a Technology & AI Analyst to help transform how our Business Intelligence and Ratings Advisory team uses data and technology to generate insights for the P&C; insurance and reinsurance industry.
This role sits at the intersection of insurance, financial analytics, data and emerging technology. The successful candidate will identify and lead opportunities to apply GenAI, agentic AI, automation and modern data and analytics tools to improve how we source information, conduct analysis, generate insights and connect those insights to actionable client solutions.
This is not a traditional IT or developer role. We are looking for someone who combines technical capability with business curiosity, someone who can understand what we do, challenge how it is done today and use technology to fundamentally improve it.
What You’ll Do
- Reimagine existing analytical workflows using GenAI, AI agents, automation and modern analytics, rather than simply automating existing processes.
- Develop tools and workflows that integrate public financial information, regulatory and statutory filings, rating agency data, third-party databases and internal data.
- Apply technology to generate differentiated macro, sector and company-level insights, identifying emerging trends, risks and opportunities.
- Help connect data and insights to actionable client opportunities and solutions across reinsurance, capital and ratings advisory.
- Explore new AI and technology capabilities, determine where they can create value and lead implementation from concept through deployment.
- Build scalable data and analytical capabilities using technologies such as Python, SQL,
Microsoft Azure and Databricks.
- Develop scalable approaches for accessing, analyzing and synthesizing large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
- Partner with insurance and ratings specialists to translate business questions into effective technology and analytical solutions.
- Help drive adoption of new tools and ways of working across the team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics or another relevant field.
- Approximately 3+ years of relevant experience in data and analytics, AI, technology, financial services or a related field.
- Strong hands-on proficiency with Python and SQL, including working with large datasets, data transformation and analytical workflows.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and Databricks or comparable cloud-based data and analytics platforms.
- Experience developing and working with APIs, data pipelines, databases and automated workflows.
- Practical experience with GenAI and LLMs, including areas such as prompt engineering, RAG and search, agentic workflows and integrating AI into business processes.
- Ability to work with large, complex and disparate datasets and translate them into useful analytics and insights.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
with an ability to understand financial and business concepts.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical subject-matter experts.
- Demonstrated self-starter mentality, with the ability to identify opportunities, experiment with new approaches and take initiatives from idea through implementation.
- Intellectual curiosity and willingness to develop a strong understanding of the P&C; insurance and reinsurance industry.
Preferred Experience
Experience in insurance/reinsurance (or broader financial services) is highly desirable. Familiarity with one or more of the following would be particularly valuable:
- Insurance financial and statutory reporting, including NAIC, Solvency II and Lloyd’s data.
- Financial and insurance databases such as S&P; Capital IQ/SNL and AM Best.
- Rating agency methodologies, financial strength ratings or capital models.
- Financial statement, peer, sector or company-level analysis.
- Experience applying Azure, Databricks and GenAI capabilities to financial or insurance datasets.
- Advanced degree, CFA, actuarial qualifications or relevant AI/data certifications are helpful, but not required.
What Success Looks Like The successful candidate will become the team's technology catalyst, developing a strong understanding of our business, identifying where emerging technology can materially improve our capabilities and taking ownership of turning those ideas into practical solutions.
We are looking for someone who asks not only “How can we automate this?” but also “How could technology fundamentally change how we do this, and what current insights could it allow us to deliver?”
