About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Technician – Production, Testing & Validation to support electronics product development, production, testing, validation, and vendor/EMS coordination.
The candidate will be responsible for supporting day-to-day production activities, PCB assembly and testing, troubleshooting hardware issues, maintaining production records, coordinating with EMS vendors, and ensuring products meet defined quality and testing requirements.
Key Responsibilities1. Production & Assembly Support
- Support day-to-day production and assembly activities for electronic products.
- Perform PCB assembly, wiring, soldering, rework, and basic hardware integration.
- Follow work instructions, BOMs, assembly drawings, and production procedures.
- Assist in pilot builds, prototype builds, and low-volume production.
- Identify and report production issues, component shortages, and assembly defects.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and 5S practices at the production/workstation area.
1. Testing & Validation
- Perform functional testing of PCBs, electronic assemblies, and finished products.
- Execute defined test procedures and maintain testing records.
- Perform basic electrical and hardware validation using instruments such as:
- Digital Multimeter (DMM)
- Oscilloscope
- Power Supply
- Electronic Load
- Function/Signal Generator
- Check voltage, current, continuity, resistance, signals, and other basic electrical parameters.
- Support environmental, functional, and reliability testing as required.
- Record test results and identify failures during testing.
- Assist engineers in debugging and root-cause analysis of hardware failures.
1. PCB Testing & Troubleshooting
- Perform visual inspection of PCBs and electronic assemblies.
- Identify soldering defects, component placement issues, damaged components, and PCB-related problems.
- Perform basic PCB-level troubleshooting.
- Support PCB rework, component replacement, soldering, and desoldering activities.
- Coordinate with engineers for complex hardware/debugging issues.
- Maintain records of failures, rework, and repair activities.
1. EMS & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) vendors for PCB assembly and production requirements.
- Follow up with vendors regarding:
- PCB assembly
- Component availability
- Production status
- Quality issues
- Rework
- Delivery schedules
- Support vendor/EMS during prototype and production builds.
- Communicate technical and production issues to the concerned engineering team.
- Assist in inspection and verification of incoming PCBs and assemblies from vendors.
- Track vendor-related issues and ensure timely closure.
- Support vendor qualification and evaluation activities when required.
1. Material & Component Support
- Assist in checking incoming electronic components, PCBs, cables, connectors, and other materials.
- Verify material against BOM, part number, quantity, and basic specifications.
- Identify damaged, incorrect, or defective components and report them.
- Support material traceability and inventory-related activities.
- Coordinate with stores/purchase/vendor teams for material requirements.
1. Quality & Documentation
- Maintain production, testing, inspection, and rework records.
- Prepare test reports and maintain test data.
- Follow company quality procedures and work instructions.
- Report non-conformities and production issues to the concerned team.
- Support preparation and maintenance of checklists, test procedures, and inspection documents.
- Ensure proper traceability of products, PCBs, and test results.
1. Field / Other Technical Support
- Support engineers during product installation, testing,
and troubleshooting activities when required.
- Assist in product validation at customer or field locations when required.
- Support troubleshooting of returned/rejected units.
- Perform other technical and production-related activities assigned by the reporting manager.
Required Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of electronics and electronic circuits.
- Hands-on experience with PCB assembly, soldering, rework, and testing.
- Valuable understanding of electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, ICs, connectors, relays, etc.
- Hands-on experience using:
- Multimeter
- Oscilloscope
- DC Power Supply
- Electronic Load
- Other basic electronic testing equipment
- Ability to read and understand:
- Circuit diagrams
- Schematics
- BOM
- PCB drawings
- Assembly drawings
- Basic understanding of PCB testing and troubleshooting.
- Basic knowledge of ESD handling and precautions.
- Basic knowledge of quality and production processes.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in EMS / contract manufacturing / electronics production.
- Experience working with PCB assembly vendors.
- Knowledge of SMT/DIP assembly processes.
- Experience with PCB inspection and rework.
- Knowledge of electronics manufacturing and testing processes.
- Basic understanding of embedded/electronic products.
- Experience with production documentation and test reports.
- Knowledge of IPC standards will be an added advantage.
Soft Skills
- Strong hands-on and problem-solving approach.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to identify and report technical issues accurately.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work with internal engineering teams and external vendors/EMS partners.
- Willingness to learn new products, tools, and testing procedures.
