Assistant Manager / Senior Executive – Furniture Designer (R&D;)
Location: Gurgaon
Work Schedule: 6 Days (Monday–Saturday) | 2nd & 4th Saturday Off

About the Role
At our organization, furniture design is where creativity meets engineering.
We're looking for a highly skilled Furniture Designer (R&D;) who is passionate about developing innovative, functional, and production-ready furniture solutions. This role goes beyond creating beautiful designs—you'll be responsible for transforming concepts into manufacturable products by combining design thinking, engineering precision, and manufacturing expertise.
Working closely with design, engineering, and production teams, you'll contribute to the research, development, prototyping, and continuous improvement of premium furniture systems for commercial interior projects.

Key Responsibilities
Furniture Design & Product Development
Design and develop modular and custom furniture solutions for commercial interior projects.
Convert design concepts into production-ready furniture systems.
Develop detailed 3D furniture models using PYTHA 3D CAD/CAM .
Create technical drawings, shop drawings, assembly drawings, sectional details, exploded views, and installation drawings.
Ensure every product balances aesthetics, functionality, durability, ergonomics, and manufacturability.

Research & Development
Research emerging furniture trends, materials, hardware, and manufacturing technologies.
Develop innovative furniture systems that improve usability, flexibility, and production efficiency.
Create current product concepts and continuously enhance existing furniture ranges.
Build and maintain a library of standardized furniture modules and technical details.
Participate in prototype development, product testing, and design validation.

Engineering for Manufacturing
Prepare complete production documentation, including:
Bill of Materials (BOM)
Hardware Schedule
Material Schedule
Panel-wise Part Lists
Cutting Lists
Edge Banding Details
Glass & Metal Requirements
Assembly Documentation
Production Sequencing
Ensure all engineering deliverables are accurate, complete, and aligned with manufacturing requirements.





CNC & Production Support
Generate CNC-ready files for manufacturing.
Prepare drilling, routing, grooving, and cutting programs.
Collaborate with CNC operators and factory teams to resolve production challenges.
Ensure engineering outputs comply with machine capabilities and manufacturing standards.
Product Optimization

Drive continuous improvement by:
Optimizing panel nesting and material utilization.
Reducing production errors and material wastage.
Standardizing product engineering practices.
Improving manufacturing efficiency through smarter product design.
Identifying opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization without compromising quality.

Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with:
Architects | Interior Designers | Project Managers | Engineering Team | Production Team | Planning | Procurement | Quality Assurance | CNC Operators
Act as the technical bridge between design intent and manufacturing execution.

Quality & Process Excellence
Review and validate engineering drawings before production release.
Ensure compliance with quality standards and manufacturing specifications.
Troubleshoot technical issues during production.
Support continuous process improvement initiatives within the R&D; function.

What We're Looking For
Technical Expertise
Strong proficiency in PYTHA 3D CAD/CAM .
Excellent understanding of modular furniture, office furniture, workstations, storage systems, kitchens, wardrobes, and custom joinery.
Strong knowledge of furniture construction techniques, joinery, materials, laminates, veneers, metals, glass, and hardware systems.
Experience preparing production drawings, technical documentation, and CNC files.
Sound understanding of manufacturing processes and factory workflows.

Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Furniture Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Interior Design, or a related discipline.
PYTHA CAD/CAM certification will be an added advantage.

Experience
3–7 years of experience in furniture design, product development, modular furniture, luxury interiors, joinery, kitchens, wardrobes, or commercial interior fit-outs.
Experience working with furniture manufacturing and CNC-based production environments is highly preferred.
