For a building construction company, a Site Engineer is primarily responsible for ensuring that construction work is executed as per drawings, specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and schedule.
1. Site Execution
- Supervise day-to-day construction activities at the site.
- Ensure work is carried out according to approved architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
- Check dimensions, levels, alignment, plumb and setting-out before and during construction.
- Coordinate different activities such as excavation, RCC, masonry, plastering, waterproofing, flooring, painting, etc.
- Ensure proper sequencing of construction activities.
1. Quality Control
- Inspect materials delivered to site and verify quality/specifications.
- Monitor concrete, reinforcement, masonry, plastering and finishing works.
- Ensure correct mix proportions, reinforcement placement, cover, curing and workmanship.
- Coordinate concrete cube tests and other required quality tests.
- Identify defective work and ensure rectification.
- Maintain quality-control checklists and records.
1. Quantity &
- Measurement
- Take measurements of completed works.
- Prepare measurement sheets / RA measurements for contractor bills.
- Verify quantities executed by subcontractors.
- Check material consumption against BOQ quantities.
- Monitor wastage of cement, steel, blocks, sand and other materials.
1. Drawing &
- Technical Coordination
- Study and understand construction drawings.
- Identify discrepancies between architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
- Coordinate with architects, structural consultants and MEP consultants when required.
- Ensure only the latest approved drawings are used at site.
- Communicate site requirements and technical issues to the Project Manager.
1. Labour &
- Contractor Management
- Supervise contractors, subcontractors and workers.
- Allocate daily work activities and monitor productivity.
- Check manpower availability at site.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to avoid delays and conflicts.
- Maintain discipline and proper working procedures at site.
1. Material Management
- Prepare material requirements based on construction progress.
- Coordinate with stores/purchase team for timely material availability.
- Check delivered materials against purchase orders/specifications.
- Ensure proper storage of cement, steel, tiles, electrical materials, plumbing materials, etc.
- Minimize material wastage and damage.
1. Planning &
- Progress Monitoring
- Prepare daily and weekly work plans.
- Monitor construction progress against the project schedule.
- Report delays and identify reasons for delay.
- Coordinate activities to achieve project milestones.
- Provide daily progress updates to the Project Manager.
1. Safety Responsibilities
- Ensure workers follow site safety procedures.
- Check PPE usage such as helmets, safety shoes, gloves and harnesses.
- Report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Ensure proper scaffolding, barricading, excavation protection and work-at-height safety.
- Coordinate with the safety officer regarding site safety requirements.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
