Job Summary

We are looking for a Sr. Data Engineer I with 5–7 years of experience in the clinical data / pharmaceutical domain. The ideal candidate will have a strong background as a SAS Programmer with hands-on experience in SDTM, ADaM, TLF, and ETL, and a strong interest in transitioning into a Data Engineering role.

Candidates with basic SQL knowledge, including those with up to 1 year of SQL experience, will also be considered. The role provides an opportunity for experienced SAS professionals to leverage their clinical data expertise while developing their skills in modern data engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, maintain, and support data pipelines and ETL processes for clinical data.
- Work with clinical data standards including SDTM and ADaM.
- Understand and work with TLF (Tables, Listings, and Figures) data and downstream requirements.
- Perform data extraction, transformation, validation, and integration activities.
- Apply existing SAS programming and clinical data expertise to data engineering solutions.
- Develop and maintain data transformation logic and data mappings.
- Write and execute SQL queries for data extraction, validation, reconciliation, and analysis.
- Collaborate with data engineers, statisticians, programmers, data managers, and other stakeholders.
- Perform data quality checks and troubleshoot data-related issues.
- Support development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of ETL/data pipelines.
- Participate in technical discussions and contribute to improving data processing workflows.
- Learn and adopt modern Data Engineering tools, technologies, and best practices.
- Contribute to automation and process improvements where applicable.
- Document data workflows, transformation logic, and technical processes.





Required Skills & Experience

- 5–7 years of experience in SAS Programming / Clinical Data / Data Engineering or a related area.
- Solid hands-on experience with SAS programming.
- Good understanding of SDTM and ADaM standards.
- Experience working with TLF (Tables, Listings, and Figures).
- Experience with ETL/data transformation processes.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of SQL is sufficient.
- Candidates with 1 year or less of SQL experience can also be considered if they have strong SAS and clinical data experience.
- Good understanding of data processing, transformation, validation, and reconciliation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to transition from SAS Programming into Data Engineering.

Good to Have

- Knowledge of Python.
- Exposure to modern data engineering platforms or cloud technologies.
- Experience with data warehouses, data lakes, or modern data platforms.
- Exposure to SQL optimization and complex data transformations.
- Experience with version control and CI/CD practices.
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Experience automating clinical data processing workflows.

Note: Strong SAS/clinical programming experience is more important than advanced SQL experience for this role. Candidates with basic SQL skills and a willingness to learn can be considered.

Education

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Life Sciences, Statistics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
