Position Summary
We are looking for a Production Supervisor who can take ownership of day-to-day shop-floor operations and ensure that planned production is achieved efficiently and on time.
The person will be responsible for production planning and execution, manpower management, machine utilization, and continuous improvement. The role requires a hands-on person who can manage operators, monitor production closely, identify problems quickly, and take corrective action.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working directly on the shop floor and should have a strong focus on productivity, discipline, target achievement, and efficient use of resources.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Execution
- Understand and execute the daily and weekly production plan.
- Plan and allocate jobs according to production priorities and delivery requirements.
- Allocate appropriate manpower, machines, tools, and resources for each job.
- Monitor production throughout the shift against planned targets.
- Take immediate corrective action when production falls behind schedule.
- Identify bottlenecks and ensure smooth movement of jobs through the production process.
- Coordinate job changeovers and prioritize urgent production requirements.
- Ensure maximum utilization of available production capacity.
- Maintain production continuity and minimize unnecessary waiting and idle time.
- Communicate production status, delays, and major constraints to the Production Manager / Plant Head.
1. Shop-Floor Manpower Management
- Supervise and manage operators, helpers, technicians, and contract workers.
- Allocate manpower based on workload, skill level, and production priorities.
- Monitor attendance, shift deployment, overtime, and manpower requirements.
- Ensure operators are properly trained for their assigned jobs.
- Maintain discipline and productivity on the shop floor.
- Ensure operators follow defined work methods and instructions.
- Handle day-to-day manpower issues and resolve them quickly.
- Cross-train operators wherever possible to improve manpower flexibility.
- Motivate the team to achieve daily production targets.
- Ensure adequate manpower is available for planned production.
1. Machine & Equipment Management
- Ensure machines are available and ready for planned production.
- Monitor machine utilization and identify unnecessary machine idle time.
- Track machine breakdowns and coordinate with Maintenance for quick resolution.
- Ensure operators carry out basic machine checks and routine maintenance activities.
- Identify recurring machine problems and bring them to the attention of Maintenance / Management.
- Coordinate machine allocation based on job requirements and production priorities.
- Ensure proper use of tools, fixtures, and other production equipment.
- Support initiatives to improve machine availability and productivity.
- Minimize production losses caused by machine downtime.
1. Productivity & Continuous Improvement
- Continuously monitor production efficiency and identify areas for improvement.
- Reduce manpower idle time, machine idle time, scrap, rework, and other production losses.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement practical solutions.
- Improve production methods,
work allocation, machine utilization, and workflow.
- Participate in Kaizen and other continuous improvement activities.
- Suggest improvements in tooling, fixtures, layouts, processes, and work methods.
- Analyze recurring production problems and work toward permanent solutions.
- Encourage operators to suggest practical shop-floor improvements.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TPM, and other productivity initiatives where applicable.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the production team.

Candidate Requirements The ideal candidate should:
- Have 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing / production setting.
- Have hands-on experience managing production operators and shop-floor activities.
- Have good knowledge of manufacturing processes and production operations.
- Be capable of reading and understanding engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Have the ability to plan manpower and resources according to production requirements.
- Be comfortable monitoring production targets and taking corrective action.
- Have good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Have basic knowledge of MS Excel and production reporting.
- Be willing to work on the shop floor and take direct ownership of production performance.
- Be willing to work in shifts, if required.
