Engineering Manager Data Platform

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager Data Platform to lead our offshore Data Platform engineering team. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the design, delivery, governance, and reliability of an enterprise data platform.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise across Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Collibra, along with proven experience managing data engineering teams and delivering complex enterprise data initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 815 data engineers, architects, and analysts.

Own sprint planning, backlog management, delivery cadence, and engineering execution.

Serve as the primary offshore point of contact for technical escalations and cross-functional dependencies.

Architect and evolve enterprise data platforms covering ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption.

Design and implement solutions using Azure Synapse Analytics, Databricks, and Snowflake.

Drive best practices for ETL/ELT, data modeling, data pipelines, performance, scalability, and reliability.

Lead data governance initiatives using Collibra, including data catalog, business glossary, lineage, and stewardship.

Establish data ownership, classification, access control, metadata, and data quality practices.

Collaborate with architecture, product, BI, cloud engineering, DevSecOps, and business teams.

Drive platform reliability, continuous improvement, security,



and cloud cost optimization.

Communicate platform health, roadmap progress, risks, and delivery status to senior leadership.

Required Qualifications

10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Platforms, or related technology roles.

3+ years of experience in Engineering Management or Team Lead roles.

Proven experience leading offshore/distributed engineering teams.

Experience owning or managing an enterprise cloud data platform in a production environment.

Solid hands-on experience with Databricks, Snowflake, and Azure Synapse Analytics.

Strong experience with Collibra and data governance.

Strong SQL and Python skills.

Experience with data pipelines, ETL/ELT, data modeling, and cloud data platforms.

Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Azure Data Factory, Apache Airflow, Databricks Workflows, dbt, Delta Lake, or Unity Catalog.

Experience with MDM platforms such as Informatica MDM or Reltio.

Experience with Salesforce/CRM data integration.

Exposure to Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, or streaming architectures.

Experience with data quality, lineage, metadata management, and regulatory requirements.

Work Location & Shift

Location: Chennai

Shift: 11:00 AM 8:00 PM

Work Model: Work from a U.S. Bank location 3 or more days per week
