Position Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering & Design team.

The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end mechanical design and development of HV/EHV testing equipment, including 3D modelling, detailed engineering drawings, fabrication design, assembly design, BOM preparation, and coordination with manufacturing and project teams.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on expertise in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and CATIA, along with practical experience in industrial equipment design, fabrication, sheet-metal design, and team management.

The position requires an individual who can independently handle design projects, lead a team of designers, resolve technical issues, and ensure timely delivery of engineering outputs.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Design & Engineering

- Design and develop mechanical systems, structures, assemblies, and components for HV/EHV testing equipment.
- Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, fabrication drawings, manufacturing drawings, and installation drawings.
- Perform mechanical design calculations and ensure structural integrity and functionality of designed systems.
- Design sheet-metal components, fabricated structures, frames, enclosures, supports, platforms, and mechanical assemblies.
- Prepare and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOM),



part lists, and engineering documentation.
- Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, assembly, reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

Software & Technical Documentation
- Prepare professional engineering drawings using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and CATIA.
- Develop and maintain 3D models and complete mechanical assemblies.
- Apply appropriate engineering standards, tolerances, GD&T;, and drawing practices.
- Maintain drawing revisions, design changes, and technical documentation.

Team Leadership & Project Coordination
- Lead and manage the Mechanical Design Team.
- Allocate design activities and monitor project-wise progress.
- Review drawings and designs prepared by junior design engineers.
- Mentor and technically guide team members.
- Coordinate with Electrical, Production, Procurement, Quality, Project, and Service Teams.
- Ensure design deliverables are completed within defined project timelines.

Manufacturing & Project Support
- Coordinate with the manufacturing and fabrication teams to ensure correct implementation of designs.
- Provide technical clarification and resolve design-related issues during manufacturing and assembly.
- Support installation, testing, commissioning, and site-related engineering activities whenever required.
- Coordinate with vendors for fabrication and mechanical components.
- Review manufacturing feedback and incorporate necessary design improvements.

Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for design optimization, standardization, cost reduction, and process improvement.
- Develop standard mechanical designs and reusable engineering components.
- Ensure engineering practices meet company quality and safety requirements.

Required Qualifications
- B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in Mechanical Design Engineering.




- Strong practical experience in industrial equipment / machinery design.
- Experience in team handling and project coordination is highly preferred.
- Candidates with experience in HV testing equipment, transformer equipment, electrical equipment, power sector, or industrial machinery will be preferred.

- Willingness to travel to customer/project sites when required.
